WHO'S WATCHING WHAT…AND WHY?

Now suppose you were someone who was in charge of a cable television news operation. You were the person in charge of the bottom line. What would be most important to you; 1) advocating and promoting some really destructive political ideology or, 2) to come up with ways that would entice viewers to watch by providing to them the most accurate information possible in a way that would present opposing points of view. I suppose that it would all depend upon whether or not you were actually out to turn a profit, or if you were, instead, interested in serving no other purpose than to act as a willing pawn of the political party whose agenda you happily dispensed to the American public. So willing have some networks been in their choosing of option 2, that are going broke in the process. I mean, how can you expect someone to pay for advertising on your network, when it's shown that very few people are actually watching it? Just ask Oprah.

As a little disclaimer here, I will admit that when I am in search of reliable news and information on television I just naturally find myself migrating to Fox News. Having said that, I'm not a big fan of O'Reilly or Greta, but I do like Hannity, Shepard Smith and Bret Baier. That's not to say that I never watch anything but Fox, it's just not very often, because, more often than not, I just can't take most of the other folks seriously. They all come across as if I'm watching some bad Saturday Night Live skit. Many of those on the other networks are simply angry, arrogant assholes who seem to think they're so much smarter than those watching. Now I suppose if you are looking only for those who may be in total agreement with you, then Fox News is not for you, as it is the only network that presents opposing viewpoints on the issues. The others are simply afraid to do that, because their positions are already difficulty to defend, so why would they make it any more difficult for themselves to do so.
