OBAMA WORKS TO SOLIDIFY THE KOOK BASE...

While we conservatives definitely have more than a few bones to pick with Barry regarding what's been gong on in this country for the last 3+ years, a number of progressive activists congregating in Providence this past weekend for the Netroots Nation conference are not exactly thrilled with all of Barry’s first term in the White House either. Although, for the life of me, I don't understand what exactly they have to be all that unhappy about. As the conference keynote speaker, former "Green Czar" Van Jones said of Barry on Saturday: “We like him, but we’re not in love with him."

So in what I can only guess was an attempt to shore up sagging support from the far left fringe kooks, Barry appeared in a video address to the conference on Saturday. In this little video, Barry proceeded to remind all of those gathered of some of the 'great' work that he and his administration have done over the last fours years, and called for continued support moving forward. “Four years ago we came together because we shared a simple belief that people who love their country can change it,” Barry said to the progressive activists at Netroots. “And you have.” Yep, and not for the better!

From there Barry proceeded to, or at least attempted to, take everyone on a little trip down memory lane, where he reminded the conference attendees of his push to reform the nation’s healthcare system, doubling-down on clean energy, repealing Don‘t Ask Don’t Tell, ending the War in Iraq and reminded everyone how it was that 'he' got Osama bin Laden. All things that you would at least think would endear him to those partaking in this little freakshow of a gathering. But apparently not so! I guess they are of the opinion that Barry has not pushed us hard enough or far enough to the left.

“But we’ve got a lot more work to do, especially when it comes to getting our fellow Americans back to work,” Barry said. Furthering what has become the standard claim that he has already created millions of new jobs, he said, “We’ve created 4.3 million new jobs over the past 27 months. But we‘ve got to keep at it until everyone who’s out there, pounding the pavement, gets a job that pays the bills." He added, “What we can’t do is go back to the policies that got us to this mess in the first place. What we won’t do is just cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires by gutting things like education and clean energy."

The address featured a 2-minute video from WhiteHouse.gov supporting the health law by presenting a story involving a Colorado family whose son requires expensive medical treatment. “The Affordable Care Act has improved our quality of life, knowing that we don’t have to deal with the cap anymore means we can focus on the best care and the proper care for his condition,” the boy’s father is heard to say regarding how the law effects the lifetime cap on coverage. Something obviously missing, of course, was the fact how millions of Americans want it repealed.

Still, I tend to take all of this loud and near endless complaining about Barry with a grain of salt. Because who else do these kooks have to turn to but Barry if they are to have any hope, whatsoever, of dragging this country even further to the left. What I see as happening here is that these people will march off to the polls like the good little kooks that they are, hold their nose, and pull the lever, or mark the box for Barry. And I think that Barry is quite confident in that regard as well. Because there is no other option available. Barry gets the kook vote essentially by default. We have to beat the kooks.
