ONLY A LIBERAL 'THINK TANK' COULD DREAM UP SOMETHING THIS NUTTY...

Ya, I know, ‘liberal think tank’ is one of those oxymoron's like ‘extreme pacifist,’ but still one of them has now apparently come up with some kind of study that would seem to suggest that "global warming," if it were real, could actually be slowed by, yup you guessed it, working less. This new analysis suggests that a more 'European' schedule would reduce the effects of climate change. Well then I guess this would be at least one area where Barry "Almighty" and the Democrats can be said to be way ahead of the curve. Don't ya think? I mean let's face it, how many millions of folks are now no longer in the work force and therefore no longer working? How many more millions are now collecting disability and therefore spending more time on the golf course? I mean, Barry may have just cracked this whole "global warming" thing. Frankly I’m a little surprised that someone hasn’t thought of nominating him for another Nobel Prize. And we've been listening to the likes of Al Gore for all these years. I'm betting he’s wishing he would of come up with the idea of putting millions of Americans on the unemployment line.

So in what I guess you could say is an example of thinking way outside the box in trying to come up with a different solution for dealing what we're constantly being told is a worsening problem, this little group of ingenious liberal big thinkers came up with something that's so simple you have to wonder why no Democrat hasn’t thought of it before now. And what was there solution? You're just not going to believe it because it is so obvious in its simplicity. Their solution is to simply stop working so hard. Yup! So according to this new 'study' released by the Center for Economic Policy and Research, working fewer hours might actually help slow global warming. A worldwide switch to a "more European" work schedule, which includes working fewer hours and more vacation time, could prevent as much as half of the expected global temperature rise by 2100, according to this analysis. Before Barry, the only other president to ever put to test what this 'study' talks about, although unknowingly, was Carter. But sadly, then Reagan came along and screwed everything up by putting people back to work. Damn the bad luck!

This screwy little outfit called the Center for Economic Policy and Research is, like I said, an organization that's described as a ‘liberal think tank’ and it’s based, where else but, in Washington. Now the author of this brilliant little compilation of unmitigated bullsh!t which is rather generously referred to as being a 'study,' is some clown who actually claims to be an economist. His name is David Rosnick and in this study of his, he writes, "The relationship between [shorter work and lower emissions] is complex and not clearly understood, but it is understandable that lowering levels of consumption, holding everything else constant, would reduce greenhouse gas emissions," Mr. Rosnick does say that at least some of that supposed reduction can be attributed to fewer operating hours in factories and other workplaces that consume high levels of energy. Rosnick says that as developing countries' economies grow, they have two choices—they can either have a more laid back "European" style work schedule, or an "American" schedule that consists of little vacation and 40-hour work weeks.

"There's a lot of controversy—should the developing world follow an American or European model?," he says. Adding, "If the world were to follow a more European model of work, we would expect fewer hours, less output, and lower emissions of greenhouse gases." Mr. Rosnick also says that a move toward a European style of work ethic, or lack of, would result in a trade-off of up to one quarter of income gains in exchange for increased leisure time and vacation. His best-case scenario, which predicts prevention of up to a 1.3 degree Celsius temperature increase, and assumes that Americans would begin working about 0.5 percent less each year, starting with a 10-hour reduction in 2013. "We can get a similar amount of work done as productivity and technology improves," he says. "It's something we have to decide as a country—there are economic models in which individuals get to decide their hours and are still similarly productive as they are now." Ah, spoken like a true idealist and devout utopia believing in, liberal. How stupid is this? It shows very clearly just how far gone those on the left have become,

Now the esteemed Mr. Rosnick does admit that there are a few flaws in his analysis, in that the study didn't take into consideration the rise of telecommuting, which has and will continue to cut down on transportation emissions, and there is no way to know what a person would do with all of that new found leisure time. What, does Mr. Rosnick assume that we would all just stay at home and chill? I mean, and just for the sake of argument, working fewer office hours is unlikely to have much of an impact on carbon emissions if a person were, say, to take a Barry-style family vacation. "If people are taking a vacation, that means they're not commuting, but it might mean they're taking a plane ride," Rosnick says. Ok, so what the Hell is this clown really telling us? To not only work less, but when you're not working to spend your leisure time at home? Come on, is this not some of the nuttiest crap you've ever heard. This ranks right up there with Barry saying that if we would just kept our tires properly inflated we'd be able kick our dependence on foreign oil in no time. This is nuts!
