THE CHRISTIE IMAGE HAS BECOME SOMEWHAT TARNISHED, I THINK...

So let me see if I have this right, because it wasn't all that long ago many of us were being chastised by this guy regarding his appearing with then presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. It was then that we were told that Christie couldn't take a few hours to put in an appearance with Romney because of what he was having to deal with regarding the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. But now it would appear that he can make sufficient time to go clown around on Saturday Night Live while tens of thousands of New Jersey residents remain without power and are struggling every day just to survive.

Many there in New Jersey have not only lost their homes, they've lost everything that they had. Many don’t have enough to eat and many others are struggling just to stay warm. Call me silly, but it would seem that Christie would like to have it both ways. He wants us all to think of him as being a responsible leader while at the same time he's apparently happy to take any opportunity to get his face out in front of any TV camera. Let's face it, this isn't the time for a responsible leader to go do his self-promoting shtick on Saturday Night Live. But Christie seems so tone deaf that he puts his self-promotion ahead of anything else.

And yes, Rudy Giuliani went on Saturday Night Live a few weeks after September 11, but any similarity between the two men pretty much ends right there. Because Giuliani's appearance wasn’t a series of gags, it was a serious tribute to those who had died in the attacks. It had very little in common with Christie showing off the same stupid routine that he does every time he’s in the vicinity of a video camera. And at a time when New Jersey residents are still very much in need of help, why is their Governor spending time on a comedy show cracking jokes about what people have been going through? DUH!

At a time that we’ve got people from Louisiana and North Carolina coming in to help New Jersey, what is that Christie is doing? Not much more than hopping from one photo op to another. Sandy, like everything else, has turned out to be all about the monumental ego of a big man who has his sights set on becoming an even bigger man. Maybe Christie should take a break from doing his own one-man non-stop comedy show and make himself a little more useful by maybe doing something like hand out some survival kits or something. For a guy who coming up on re-election he's not doing himself many favors
