SUPPORTING OBAMA HAS BIG PRICE TAG FOR SOME…

It would seem that there is a definite price to pay for having supported Barry "Almighty", and a rather steep one. But apparently, many don’t mind paying it. First it came in the form of higher unemployment in two of the states identified as being crucial for Barry, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Now it comes in the form of higher taxes for some of the other ‘Blue States’. New Jersey went for Barry in the last election, after Gov. Christie played kissy-face with Barry. And in return for that support, families in Hurricane Sandy-ravaged New Jersey will face the highest tax increase as a percentage of their income, 6.82% or about $6,933 more in taxes. That is if Congress does not reach some sort of an agreement on that much talked about fiscal cliff during the lame-duck session. In its recent study of how the fiscal cliff would affect typical families in each state, the Tax Foundation reports that if the numerous tax provisions that are due to expire on Dec. 31 are not changed, a four-person family in New Jersey with a median income of $101,682 will see its taxes go up at a rate 6.82 percent of its income, which translates into about $6,933.

The tax issues in question are the expiration of the Bush tax rates, which also include the elimination of the 10 percent tax bracket and the reduced deduction for married filers; ending the 2 percent cut to employee-side Social Security taxes; and the Alternative Minimum Tax. The socialist state of Maryland, which also went for Barry, was ranked second by the Tax Foundation because a four-person family there, with a median income of $106,707, would see its taxes go up 6.74 percent as a percentage of income, or about $7,194. Connecticut, another very blue state, ranked third, would see taxes for a family of four go up by 6.62 percent, or $6,653. All five states with the top tax increases are very blue states, which Barry "Almighty" won in the 2012 presidential election. But, I can only assume that those living in states that went very decidedly for Barry have no qualms about paying higher taxes, or even whether or not they have a job, after all, they got what they wanted, four more years of Barack Hussein Obama. Regrettably, my own state, in the end, went for Barry as well, so I’m now waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Top Five Tax Increases Tax Increases as % of Income
#1 – New Jersey $6,933 6.82%
#2 – Maryland $7,194 6.74%
#3 – Connecticut $6,653 6.62%
#4 – Massachusetts $6,632 6.53%
#5 – New Hampshire $5,660 5.81%

Now granted everything does hinge on there being some sort of ‘deal’ being struck between now and 31 Dec regarding taxes and spending. Ah, spending, now that’s where we might run into a little trouble, because you see, Democrats don’t want to cut ANY spending. Unless, of course, we’re talking about the military, in that case they don’t mind making all manner of spending cuts. But when it comes to making the cuts that really need to made, and in the amounts that are truly needed, well then, that’s where we hit a bit of a snag. You see, Democrats see the problem as a revenue issue and Republicans see it as a spending issue. Now as much as the Democrats say it ain’t so, the truth of the matter is that EVERY time taxes are LOWERED, the government takes in MORE revenue. And yet, here we are with Democrats little screaming about how we must tax those evil rich even more. What I fear is going to happen here, and only because I’ve seen it happen before, is that the Republicans will cave on taxes in return for only token spending cuts that result in nothing than the allowing of the problem to only get worse.

And what is liable to be announced as being some grand compromise will, in all actuality, be nothing more than the final nail in our coffin. Now, I suppose, this where I should say that the American people need to realize that the problem isn’t going to be an easy one to solve, especially after decades of our being essentially nothing more than enablers as those in Washington, and in both parties, embarked on spending spree after spending spree. But, I just don’t think anyone cares anymore, we’re on a little sleigh ride to fiscal Hell here and everybody wants that last government check before we hit bottom. And those of us left to pick up the tab are dwindling in number, having already reached that point where there just aren’t enough of us left to keep this crazy-train on the tracks for much longer. And even though many may in fact realize that’s all only a matter of time before we come completely off the tracks, nobody seems to want to do anything to prevent that eventuality from occurring. Have so many of us now been so thoroughly brainwashed that something that should be so obvious, isn’t?
