WHY ARE GUN PROSECUTIONS DOWN UNDER OBAMA?

An odd thing has been going on for the last four years. You see, despite his calls for greater gun control, including a new assault weapons ban that extends to handguns, Barry's administration has turned away from enforcing gun laws already on the books, actually cutting weapons prosecutions some 40 percent since a high of about 11,000 under former President Bush. Now, was it Barry’s intention that by not enforcing current gun laws, he was hoping to increase the odds of something like last Friday’s tragedy happening? Why would he do that, you ask? Politics, that’s why. What has everyone been talking about since last Friday? Ah, that would be GUN CONTROL! What, you don’t agree that Barry is that devious? Think about it, this most recent tragedy in Connecticut is the fourth of its kind during Barry’s presidency. Might he be wanting the body count to increase so that he can then exploit it in such a way that would make it much easier for him squash our Second Amendment right?

The questions was recently posed by a supporter of the Second Amendment, "If you are not going to enforce the laws on the books, then don't start talking about a whole new wave of new laws?" That’s a very good question, why? And yet in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., that’s just what Democrat lawmakers are doing. They have already begun preparing a new collection of anti-gun laws, including renewing the ‘assault’ weapons ban, banning the purchase of high-capacity clips that spring bullets into guns, and tightening rules on who can buy weapons. Democrats are banking that the public will push for new gun controls. But as with other mass shootings, polls find the public split, and blaming the shooter, not the gun. Pew Research Center for the People & the Press on Monday found that public is evenly divided over whether the Newtown shootings reflect broader problems in American society, 47 percent, or are just the acts of troubled individuals, 44 percent.

Figures collected by Syracuse University's TRAC project, the authority on prosecutions from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, shows that Barry’s administration has reduced the focus on gun crimes and instead steered prosecutors and investigators toward drug crimes. Gun prosecutions peaked at 10,937 under Bush in 2004. A current TRAC report shows that Barry’s administration is prosecuting roughly about 6,000 weapons cases a year. According to an October 2011 TRAC report, "There also has been a shifting emphasis towards drug-related investigations. Since ATF-referred prosecutions peaked in FY 2005, the number of weapons prosecutions actually has fallen by 32 percent, a much higher rate than for ATF prosecutions overall. Making up the difference has been the growing number of drug cases, up by 26 percent during the same period." Again, I would argue that Barry has an ulterior motive here, and he is above using whatever means he feels he must to get what he wants.

In 2011, gun prosecutions pursued by Barry hit a low for the entire decade, but there has been a slight uptick in prosecutions this year, said another TRAC report. Second Amendment advocates said on background that they expect Barry to press ATF to boost prosecutions and use the Sandy Hook case, and other mass shootings, to move gun control to the top of his second term agenda. "It's in his DNA to push this issue," said one gun-rights official, speaking on background. "This would be his crowning achievement, if he can ban guns," added the official. And there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that in Barry’s mind, if he thinks that he can get away with using the death of children to accomplish that which he wants most, he will not hesitate for a second. Because Barry is a firm believer in a philosophy that you should never let a serious crisis go to waste because it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before. And I think a recent email sent out from Barry’s ‘campaign’ proves that point quite well.

Because it’s in a new email under David "My Mommy Was A Commie" Axelrod's name that Barry’s campaign emails about the shooting in Newtown, Conn asking supporters to "consider" how to honor the memory of the 20 children killed in the shooting: "Our hearts broke on Friday as we learned of the tragic and senseless deaths of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Last night, President Obama addressed the families of Newtown, offering the love and prayers of a nation, and vowing to use whatever power his office holds to protect our children from such unthinkable acts of violence. He spoke from the heart -- as a president and a parent. Watch this speech: As we reflect on the lives lost last week, we must also, as the President urged, consider how each of us can play a part in making our country worthy of the memory of those little children. I hope you and the ones you love have a happy and safe holiday."

Barry’s campaign has kept their massive email list active since Election Day, emailing supporters about how to help Barry "Almighty's" fiscal cliff agenda and how the campaign can best stay engaged. With Barry vowing action on gun control in his Sunday remarks, it's a sign that the campaign apparatus may be a part of that push. Now on the topic of the previously mentioned assault weapons ban, we had one of those once and it did absolutely nothing, so it was allowed to simply expire. And now suddenly a ‘new’ assault weapons ban is what we need? What Barry wants to do here is to remove one more barrier, one could, I suppose, argue the final barrier, that prevents the government from better ‘controlling’ we the people. And control is what it’s all about. Slowly but surely we are losing more and more of our individual freedoms, and far too many of us don’t seem to mind. We need to be very distrustful of these claims being made here about the need to ‘control’ guns, because there’s much more here than meets the eye.
