‘SLOW JOE’ BIDEN BECOMES THE POINT MAN REGARDING ‘NEW’ GUN LAWS…
What should come as no surprise to anyone, because it’s pretty much been the game plan since day one, is the fact that Barry is now in the process of launching an administration-wide effort to take measures that, he says, will curb gun violence. What he’s doing is to put to good use, as he sees it, the growing political consensus over tightening gun restrictions following what we all agree was the horrific massacre at a Connecticut elementary school. Being the political opportunist that we all recognize him as being, Barry must now see this time as being the perfect opportunity to strike while the iron is hot.
And guess who it is that Barry now sees fit to task with the responsibility of spearheading his little effort to tighten current gun laws? Well, none other than old "Slow Joe" Biden, a longtime gun control advocate and a bona fide nut. In remarks from the White House on Wednesday, Barry will outline a process for pursuing policy changes following the school shooting, though, as usual he’ll leave the actual heavy lifting to others as he is not expected to call for specific measures. But I doubt very much if any consensus arrived at will be as simple as better enforcement of the hundreds of gun laws already on the books.
Reuters has more: "Obama has turned to Biden in the past to take a role in high-profile policy initiatives, such as efforts to seek a deficit-reduction compromise with congressional Republicans in 2011. Biden’s mission – to coordinate a process among government agencies to formulate policies in the wake of the Newtown shootings – comes just days after an event that appears to have generated a national outcry for greater efforts to stem gun violence."
Barry has now vowed to use "whatever power this office holds" to safeguard the nation’s children after Friday’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. But again, where has this same level of concern been for the last four years. So now, I guess, with twenty children and six adults were killed at the school by a gunman carrying an arsenal of ammunition and a high-powered, military-style rifle, that was the final straw as far as Barry is concerned. And again I’ll ask, what about all of the children, and others, who die needlessly in car wrecks every year, why focus just on guns? Should we ban cars?
But in what is yet another example of Barry’s desire to never let a serious crisis go to waste, Barry, apparently, now feels some urgency in formulating a policy, any kind of a policy, response to this horrible shooting. The incident has prompted several congressional gun rights supporters to consider all manner of new legislation to control firearms, and there is some fear that their willingness to engage could fade as the shock and sorrow over the Newtown shooting eases. So you see, the urgency that Barry is feel has no basis in anything other than furthering his leftist political agenda.
Many pro-gun lawmakers also have called for a greater focus on mental health issues and the impact of violent entertainment. And they are right! And, also, I’d be willing to bet that if one were to expend a little energy here, they just might find out that the mother of this kid most likely asked for help, but because of policies put in place by liberals was probably denied that help. But of course, like his nonexistent "all of the above" approach to his energy policy, Barry is said to also prefer a holistic approach to gun control, with aides saying stricter gun laws alone are not the answer.
In what has become the typical version of ‘newspeak’ we see coming from this administration Spokesmoron Jay Carney said, "It’s a complex problem that requires more than one solution." This moron went to say, "It calls for not only re-examining our gun laws and how well we enforce them, but also for engaging mental health professionals, law enforcement officials, educators, parents and communities to find those solutions." Still, much of the immediate focus after the shooting is on gun control, an issue that has been dormant in Washington for years.
But the fact is that Barry expended little political capital on gun issues during his first term, despite several mass shootings, including a movie theater attack Aurora, Colo., in the midst of this year’s presidential campaign. But you will remember that he has talked, before, about those bitter clingers out there in the backwoods who cling to their guns and their Bibles. But apparently now all of that has now changed since we are now hearing that the White House has begun to signal that Barry may be more proactive on gun issues following the most recent shootings. Only if he sees something to be gained politically.
Carney said Barry was "actively supportive" of legislation to reinstate a ban on assault-style weapons that expired in 2004, and that, I might add, accomplished absolutely nothing. Which is why it was allowed to expire. It’s pretty well known that Barry, like most, if not all of those over on the hard left, has long supported a ban. But because it wasn’t seen as a priority, Barry exerted little effort to get it passed during his first term. In fact, as I have mentioned before, during that same period of time enforcement of those gun laws already on the books decreased 40 percent. So why not just start enforcing those laws. Why are ‘new’ gun laws needed?
