OBAMA, SEES HIMSELF AS A MODERATE REPUBLICAN FROM THE 80'S??

Either through the experiencing of some sort of flash back to the drug days of his youth, or demonstrating that, beyond the shadow of doubt, he must still light up a joint every now and then in the Oval Office, Barry "Almighty’ recently made the rather strange comment that he would be "considered a moderate Republican" in the 1980s because his policies are "so mainstream." Now I know Democrats have a rather weird sense of what constitutes being in the mainstream, but this is nothing short of crazy. To call himself the equivalent of moderate Republican is like say Teddy Kennedy was. Barry made his rather idiotic remark during an interview with Univision 23 on Thursday, a Spanish station based in Miami, when Barry was asked about the perception among some Americans that he has a definite socialist vision for America.

"One issue that Cuban-Americans are worried about is, they believe that you favor a socialist model for our country," Barry was asked, at least according to a transcript of the interview compiled by The Hill. "Cubans and Venezuelans especially because of what they have gone through. What do you think of that?" In an attempt to downplay the whole notion that he is somehow a socialist, Barry replied in what has become very typical fashion for him, quite arrogantly and bordering on being condescending. Barry said, "I don't know that there are a lot of Cubans or Venezuelans, Americans who believe that." He went on to say, "The truth of the matter is that my policies are so mainstream that if I had set the same policies that I had back in the 1980s, I would be considered a moderate Republican."

But Barry wasn't quite finished as he continued with his rather bizarre, long-winded answer by saying, "I mean, what I believe in is a tax system that is fair," Barry "Almighty" continued. "I don't think government can solve every problem. I think that we should make sure that we're helping young people go to school. We should make sure that our government is building good roads and bridges and hospitals and airports so that we have a good infrastructure." Finally coming to the end of his answer, "I do believe that it makes sense that everyone in America, as rich as this country is, shouldn't go bankrupt because someone gets sick, so the things I believe in are essentially the same things your viewers believe in." But Barry does believe that the government can solve everything. And that it should no matter what the cost!

I'm curious to know if this notion of his, if it wasn't somehow drug induced, how it is, then, that he came to describe himself in such an odd manner. I mean, really, a moderate Republican? Because I gotta tell you, for the life of me, as a guy who was voting in every election during the 1980's, I damn sure don't recall any Republican, moderate or otherwise, who was as far to the left as Barry is today. Now granted, there was a rather sizable loan made to Chrysler back in the late 70s, and I’m really not sure how many Republicans might have actually signed on. But either way, it was far from being ‘mainstream’ with some big name Democrats even opposing it. And it represented nowhere near to the level of government involvement perpetrated by Barry in both Chrysler and General Motors today. So moderate Republican? No, don’t think so!
