Senate Majority Leader "Dingy" Harry Reid has now named the three Democratic senators who will sit on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, that so-called super committee established by the recent debt-ceiling legislation. And they are, Dick Dover, Ben Dover and Jack Dover, but the names are essentially interchangeable between these three stellar liberals whose primary mission it will be, to get taxes raised on all of those greedy corporate jet owners. The appointments, especially one of them, does not seem to be sitting well with Republicans. Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.), we'll call her Ben Dover, just because, heads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, a political group which is responsible for getting Democrats elected to the Senate. “Harry Reid’s appointment of Patty Murray to Co-Chair the Select Committee on Deficit Reduction is absolute proof that Democrats are not serious about deficit reduction," said Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. "As chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Murray is the Senate Democrats’ fundraiser-in-chief. The Select Committee is no place for someone whose top priority is fundraising and politics. Majority Leader Harry Reid should immediately withdraw her appointment.” Sure like that's going to happen. Look, this committee is going to accomplish nothing more than to quickly become yet another circus, because Democrats are determined to prevent any realistic spending reductions from taking place. They have two agenda items; 1) massively slash defense spending and 2) raise taxes on those who we need to have creating much needed jobs.
Sen. John Kerry-Heinz, the moron from Massachusetts, who I believe spent a brief but highly personally rewarding time in Vietnam, so let's refer to him as Dick Dover, was one of the first Democrats to advance the latest Democrat talking point/tactic of blaming the Tea Party for Standard and Poor's decision to downgrade America's credit rating. “I believe this is, without question, the Tea Party downgrade,” is what this imbecile said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “This is the Tea Party downgrade because a minority of people in the House of Representatives countered the will of even many Republicans in the United States Senate who were prepared to do a bigger deal, to do $4.7 trillion dollars, $4 trillion dollars, have a mix of reductions and reforms in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, but also recognize that we needed to do some revenue.” For those having a difficult time keepin up here, revenue, in Democrat parlance, means tax hikes. Kerry-Heinz, who fancies himself another Jack Kennedy, is nothing more than a pompous gasbag who married money. He possesses very little, if any, personal character and even less credibility, as evidenced by his "earning" some medals in Vietnam, courtesy of some self-inflected "wounds." The third Democrat "Dover" boy named to the committee is Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (Mont.), he'll be Jack, who shepherded the Democrats' health-care "reform" bill through the senate and supported the legislation's individual mandate. So there should be no doubt in anyone's mind on which end of the political spectrum this guy is, or just how far our there he is.
Baucus, or in terms of this post referred to as Jack, stated that, “We are grateful and humbled that Leader Reid asked us to join this Committee to help tackle this critical issue for the American people." Right, this guy is humbled by his being selected to serve on this joke of a committee that in all likelihood is going to accomplish zip point nothing if it doesn't include the massive tax hikes desired by Democrats. Meanwhile Sens. Kerry-Heinz (Dick), Baucus (Jack) and Murray (Ben) said in a joint statement. "While some will argue there is peril in serving on this committee, we believe there is far greater peril in leaving these issues unaddressed. It is long overdue to step beyond the partisanship and politics that have overwhelmed these discussions for months. The true danger lies in inaction, so we look forward to working with our colleagues to find solutions for our economy and for our country." What a loud of crap! The senators said the want the joint committee to be a "serious committee" as it deals with some of the "most serious challenges we’ve ever faced in the Senate." They went on say that the panel will shape "what we want our country to look like 10 years form now, 20 years from now, and for generations to come. "Americans are demanding leadership, and we are going to work hard to deliver it.” Well if these folks are the examples from we're supposed to "expect" to some leadership from, then I think old "Dingy" missed the freakin boat. These three, at least, couldn't lead their way out of a wet paper sack. Three Senate Republicans, three House Republicans, and three House Democrats will also sit on the joint committee, but they have not yet been named. The committee is supposed to come up with $1.5 trillion in “deficit reduction” – be it spending cuts or tax increases or both -- over the next decade.
These three "appointments" of Dick, Ben and Jack Dover, demonstrate the total lack of seriousness on the part of Democrats to address the financial mess that they themselves got us into. I can hardly wait to see which Democrats it will be that will come from the House. Perhaps Manny, Moe and Jack, or perhaps, because I don't suppose that we can have two Jacks, Curly, Larry and Moe. I think many of us realize that this whole Joint Committee thing amounts to nothing more than going through the motions. It's another thing that the Democrats and their many minions in the state controlled media are going to politicize as we head into the 2012 election. The Democrats are going to continue to throw up every speed bump and road block to any realistic spending cuts that are presented. And the Republicans are going to have to e ready for that, but more importantly their going to be called upon to demonstrate a bit more backbone than what they have recently shown. We are at a very precarious place in our history, and the weight fro getting us through this is resting squarely on the shoulders of the Republicans. And only those who are up for the challenge need be appointed to this committee. The stakes are now so high that there is no time left to where we can kick this can down the road. The problem has got to be corrected now, or at least it has to become obvious that serious attempts will be made indicating that the sense of urgency is there and specific actions will now be taken to get this country out of the ditch and back onto the tracks, fiscally speaking. To have the fate of our country resting the hands of folks like those is more than a little disconcerting, because they are out for no one other than themselves.
