OLD “ZIGGY” BRZEZINSKI GIVES OBAMA'S FOREIGN POLICY PRETTY HIGH MARKS…

Zbigniew Brzezinski, the esteemed former National Security Adviser to that genius of a president Jimmy Carter, has now officially issued what he perceives as being the grades that Barry has earned for his materful foreign policy performance. Ziggy says that Barry is “somewhere between B-plus and A-minus,” and he actually goes so far as to praise what he refers to as being Barry's "achievements" with Chinese and Russian relations. But Ziggy does criticize Barry's failure to move forward on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. “It would be higher if he had moved more decisively on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, because he had a chance to do so. But admittedly, he was overwhelmed by domestic problems,” is how Ziggy described things in his appearance on the Communist Broadcasting System's (CBS) joke of a program, Face the Nation.

Ziggy's recent, and rather imbecilic, comments come at time when Republican Mitt Romney has been making reference to Jimmy Carter's failed one-term presidency of the course of the last several weeks, trying to draw parallels to the Barry administration. So in what I assume to be an attempt to defend his old boss by speaking positively of Barry, Ziggy said that Barry has achieved much with his foreign policy, including “a reconnection with Europe,” “a more stable relationship with Russia,” and the draw-down in Afghanistan. A more stable relationship with Russia? Really? I'm not so sure that I'd be took quick to put Afghanistan in the plus column just yet, but I'm sure Barry's decision to cut and run is very appealing to Ziggy. After all, appeasement of every kind, while cutting and running, and throwing allies under the bus, was Carter's forte.

Ziggy also said that he feels, quite strongly I'm guessing, that Barry's administration handled the situation with blind Chinese dissident Chen Guangchen well. I guess he views the fact that Chen was recently granted permission by the U.S. and China to apply for a fellowship in America as being some positive sign. Chen, you remember, recently escaped house arrest and sought asylum at the United States embassy. Look, the key word here, and the one which seem to Ziggy so giddy, is "apply", which in Red Chinese lingo means absolutely nothing. The recent incident threatened to cast a pall over the recent visit of high-ranking U.S. officials to Beijing for diplomatic talks, but both governments were able to ultimately come to an agreement on Chen. Right we caved, because this can now "apply" to come to the U.S. to study.

“All in all, I think both sides, the Chinese and us, handled it reasonably well,” Ziggy said. Adding, “The whole thing underlines the importance of the delicate nature of this relationship, and how both of us have to handle it with real strategic vision.” He noted that the incident illuminated what he called “the central issue of our time.” Ziggy proceeded to wonder, “Can, for the first time in history, two preeminent powers effectively coexist and even collaborate?” But Ziggy cautioned that the most pressing national security issue is Iran, and how to prevent a conflict from breaking out in the Middle East. And speaking as the proud pacifist that he is, he said “We have to do everything we can to avoid a war, and there are ways of avoiding that war that are intelligent and constructive. But a war sets in motion unpredictable consequences,” he said.

Look, it really should come as no huge surprise here that this left over from the Carter years is coming out and supporting some of the worst foreign decisions since…well since the Carter years. There have been many comparisons made, and not just by Romney, going all the way back to before the 2008 election. The Barry presidency has long been described as being the Carter second term. And there are striking similarities between the two administrations. But the question remains, will the American people have the same wisdom today to send Barry packing like they did Carter. We have no Reagan riding to the rescue this time around. While Gov. Romney does not come with the conservative credentials of Reagan, I feel confident in saying that a Romney presidency would be far better for this country and the world than four more years of Barry.
