QUESTION: WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS?...

One of our favorite pompous old gas bags in Congress, Steny Hoyer, DEMOCRAT, has actually now come out and said that he takes Georgetown Law "student" Sandra Fluke “at her word” about the high cost of birth control that she and her "friends" must pay, which she told a House panel last week can cost over $3,000 a year at a time she is also supposedly attending law school. At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, Rep. Hoyer’s office was asked the following question by a representative of one of our more credible news organizations: “Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke told Congress contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 in law school if her insurance doesn’t cover it. Yet the Target store 3 miles from Georgetown Law sells a month’s supply of birth control pills for $9 to people whose insurance does not cover the pills. Was Fluke’s testimony accurate?” Choosing to respond via e-mail, Hoyer’s spokesman, some moron by the name of Daniel Reilly said: “Mr. Hoyer takes Ms. Fluke at her word and believes she provided accurate testimony to the [Democratic] Steering & Policy Committee regarding important women’s health issues.” Might that be because the esteemed Mr. Hoyer, sees the politics in this and the longer it can be kept front and center the longer we can go without talking about the truly substantive issues so desperately in need of being addressed?

It was back on Feb. 23, that Fluke, who just so happened to be the sole witness appearing before what was an all-Democrat exercise in stupidity chaired by Nancy "I've Had Way Too Much Botox" Pelosi, informed the enlightened members on this panel, as well as those who happened to be watching, of this self-inflicted plight currently being experienced by so many of our young female college students today. Fluke, the 30-year-old past president of some silly little group, "Georgetown Law Students for Reproductive Justice", said she was testifying in support of the Obamacare regulation that requires all health insurance plans, including those offered by Catholic universities, to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives. She said she wanted to tell the many stories of the women at Georgetown Law who were affected by the fact that the student health-care plan at the Catholic university does not cover contraceptives. Ok, so let's all have a pity party for all of these poor, unfortunate "ladies" who, apparently, are so sex starved they are forced to spend money on contraceptives that could, instead, be spent on other things. How dare we allow these poor girls to spend so much of their time on their backs, while at the same time expecting them to cough up the requisite amount for their contraceptives. Whoops, my bad!

As part of what was described as being her testimony, Fluke said, “Without insurance coverage, contraception, as you know, can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school” Adding, “For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, that’s practically an entire summer’s salary. Forty percent of female students at Georgetown Law report struggling financially as a result of this policy.” She went on to say, “One student told us of how embarrassed and powerless she felt when she was standing at the pharmacy counter, learning for the first time that contraception wasn’t covered, and had to walk away because she couldn’t afford it," said Fluke. "Women like her have no choice but to go without contraception.” Fluke further testified, “Just last week a married female student told me she had to stop using contraception because she couldn’t afford it any longer. Women employed in low wage jobs without contraceptive coverage face the same choice." “You might respond that contraception is accessible in lots of other ways," Fluke told the Democratic panel. "Unfortunately, that's not true." This "young woman" is very obviously blowing smoke and she knows it, she just trying to get someone else to cover the cost of her recreational sexual activities. This contraceptive type stuff is far from resembling some kind of controlled substance.

The fact is, the rationale behind this entire scenario can be said to be two fold. First of all it provides Barry with yet another platform from which he can contune with his assault on organized religion. Secondly it is a way for him to distract the attention of the American people away from more pressing issues such as the economy, unemployment and rapidly escalating gas prices. And Ms. Fluke, in her own little way, I suppose can be said to have assisted in the exposing of this charade. Because one of our more credible news organizations has now confirmed the fact that birth control pills are available for as little as $9 per month, or $108 and year, for people without health insurance at the Target pharmacy just three miles from the Georgetown Law school campus where our law student attends classes. Also there is a CVS pharmacy just 'two blocks' from that very same campus that also sells an entire month's supply of birth control pills for just $33 or under $400 for the whole year. So if this idiot and her friends are paying $3000 a year, then they really are getting screwed. Maybe that's what she should be busy complaining about. Look, no matter what Barry says, there's no need for anyone other than the one of the participants in any ongoing sexual activity, to purchase whatever form of contraceptive that may be deemed as appropriate. So how about we just move beyond this and on to the more important issues of the day.
