DEMOCRATS, INCLUDING OBAMA, "WANT" HIGHER GAS PRICES!...MUCH HIGHER!

The longer that Barry continues to perpetuate this façade that he somehow has even the slightest interest in doing something about the price of gas, the more apparent it becomes that he has no interest, whatsoever, in doing so. And so it was at a recent news conference, just this past Tuesday in fact, that Barry “Almighty”, our “Dear Beloved Leader”, in demonstrating what has become the typical level of arrogance to be expected from him, took it upon himself to mock a suggestion that he actually wants higher gasoline prices during an election year. Even though, as a candidate in 2008, he went so far as to suggest just that. Making a statement at the time that higher prices would be desirable but that there would have to be, what he termed, a “gradual adjustment.” Anyway, it was during the news conference on Tuesday, that Barry once again got a testy with Fox News reporter Ed Henry. It was when Henry asked him, “Your critics on Capitol Hill will say that you want gas prices to go higher because you have said before that will wean the American people off fossil fuels on to renewable fuels. How do you respond to that?” Barry, in typical smug fashion, simply dismissed the question as being ridiculous and never really provided any sort of an answer. “Just from a political perspective, do you think a president of the United States going into reelection wants gas prices to go up higher? Is there anybody here who thinks that makes a lot of sense?” Barry asked.

And in what was essentially nothing more than a blatant lie, and he knew it to be a lie when he said it, Barry went on to say, “Here’s the bottom line with respect to gas prices: I want to get gas prices lower because they hurt families, because I meet folks everyday who have to drive a long way to get to work and them filling up this gas tank gets more and more painful and is a tax out of their pocketbooks -- out of their paychecks.” That he could actually make such a statement and maintain a straight face, while doing so, is nothing short of amazing. He went onto say that, “A lot of folks are already operating on the margins right now, and it’s not good for the overall economy because when gas prices go up, consumer spending often times pulls back." And then in what was an attempt to also create some perception that our economy is actually improving, he said, “We’re in the midst right now of a recovery that is starting to build up steam, and we don’t want to reverse it.” Barry continued, “What I have also said about gas prices is that there is no silver bullet, and the only way we are going to solve this over the medium- and long-term is with an all-of-the-above strategy.” The national average price of gas Tuesday was $3.76, that according to AAA. Which is over a 100 percent increase over what it was when Barry "took" office. And I wood argue that nowhere in his "all-of-the-above strategy" will you finding drilling.

Now as you may, or may not, remember, it was in a June 10, 2008 interview that then-candidate Barry “Almighty” said, “Well, I think that we have been slow to move in a better direction when it comes to energy usage. And the president, frankly, hasn't had an energy policy. And as a consequence, we've been consuming energy as if it's infinite. We now know that our demand is badly outstripping supply with China and India growing as rapidly as they are.” When asked if high gasoline prices would help, Barry answered at the time, “I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment. The fact that this is such a shock to American pocketbooks is not a good thing.” Also in 2008, Stephen Chu, who became Barry “Almighty’s” Energy secretary, was quoted as saying, “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” Now fast forward to just four days ago, in his Saturday radio address, Barry said, "There's no silver bullet for avoiding spikes in gas prices every year." He said, “Thanks to new fuel efficiency standards we put in place, (Detroit is) building cars that will average nearly 55 miles per gallon by the middle of the next decade. That’s almost double what they get today. That means folks will be able to fill up every two weeks instead of every week, saving the typical family more than $8,000 at the pump over time." He then went on to say, "That’s a big deal, especially as families are yet again feeling the pinch from rising gas prices.” Is anybody really buying any of this obvious crap?

And then in taking things a step further, it was then on Wednesday that we heard Barry as he proceeded to dismiss oil as being "the fuel of the past" as he made an unapologetic election-year pitch for pouring more money into his alternative energy industry policies as he sniped at Republicans over painfully high gasoline prices. "They get out on the campaign trail—and you and I both know there are no quick fixes to this problem—but listening to them, you'd think there were," he said at a Daimler Truck manufacturing plant in the battleground state of North Carolina. And in yet another thinly veiled accusation that we Americans are nothing more that a greedy lot, he said that the United States accounts for 20 percent of the world's consumption of oil but has only 2 percent of its petroleum reserves. Using that as the basis for his idiotic statement that, "we're not going to be able to just drill our way out of the problem of high gas prices. Anybody who tells you otherwise either doesn't know what they're talking about or they aren't telling you the truth." Now you would think that it would be painfully obvious that this "alternative energy" idea of his just ain't work. And the fact that he continues to ignore that fact speaks volumes regarding just what might be his real objective here. Just how much taxpayer money needs to be wasted on these green pipe dreams that have absolutely no chance of ever becoming a reality for decades.

And then in what had to be considered as being the real laugher of his entire little stump speech, he said, "Here is the truth. If we are going to control our energy future, then we've got to have an all-of-the-above strategy." Going on to say, "We've got to develop every source of American energy—not just oil and gas, but wind power and solar power, nuclear power, biofuels." Barry continued in his efforts to push Republicans in Congress to support ending oil subsidies. He said, "We can place our bets on the fuel of the past, or we can place our bets on American know-how and American ingenuity and American workers like the ones here at Daimler. That's the choice we face. That's what's at stake right now," Barry also used the speech to promote the use of alternative fuels and electric-powered and other "advanced vehicles." Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell, hit Barry on his call to end subsidies for oil companies while directing government help to so-called green energy firms, some of which have political ties to the administration. "When it comes to rising gas prices, the American people don't think it's particularly fair that at a time when they're struggling to fill up the tank, their own tax dollars are being used to subsidize failing solar companies of the president's choosing, not to mention the bonuses that executives at these companies keep getting," McConnell said. Adding, "if higher gas prices hurt the economy, then why in the world is the administration calling for higher taxes on energy manufacturers?" That’s something I can’t quite figure out either. How does raising taxes, lower the price of gas?

And on a little side note here, and something that clearly shows the level of hypocrisy involved here, is the fact that we have Nancy Pelosi, who back in May of 2007, while still House Speaker, was only too happy to place the blame for the nationwide price of gas reaching a $3.07 average squarely on the Bush administration. “Drivers are paying a heavy price for the Bush administration’s failure to enact a comprehensive energy strategy,” Pelosi said. “Years of Bush Administration's policies that have favored big oil over the consumers have resulted in record dependence on foreign oil, leaving American families and businesses to pay even higher prices.” Pelsoi continued, “This Congress, under the Democratic leadership, is working to make up for years of inaction, taking America in a new direction that helps bring down the cost of gas and promotes energy independence. Energy independence is essential, essential to reducing the price at the pump.” Now, as of March 2012 the average nationwide price of gas is $3.79, but we've heard nary a peep from old Nancy and no blame has yet been placed where it rightfully belongs, on Barry’s idiotic energy polices. Instead she chooses to focus her criticism on speculators. “Supply is up. Demand is down, you would think the price would come down. Enter the speculators,” Pelosi said on March 1, 2012. “Not the healthy speculation that is normal to the marketplace, but a speculation that can add 20 percent to the cost of a barrel of oil. The American people have to know that, because this has happened before.”

And so the story continues. Now we wait to see if the American people will be bright enough to figure out just who it is, exactly, that they're getting screwed by. It ought to be fairly obvious here, but I think it safe to say that the majority Americans aren't really known for their smarts. I mean here we are, as a country, sitting on more coal that Saudi Arabia has oil, we have oil shale in Canada, a country that is actually friendly toward the U.S. and millions upon millions of barrels of oil sitting underground offshore and in Alaska, and what do Barry and the Democrats choose to do about it? Nothing! So we're forced to leave all that pent up energy stuck in the ground, going completely untapped. And for what? For no other reason than so that Barry can then control one more aspect of our lives, making him able to dictate to us what kind of car we can drive, to what extent we are able to heat or cool our homes, the list goes on and on. It should be pretty obvious here what it is that Barry is up to. What other country on the entire planet, refuses to take full advantage of the vast resources that it has been blessed with? No one, because that entire concept is insane! Barry's idea of an energy policy is to completely restrict the tapping of our resources anywhere on federal land and then to pour millions, even hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, into what is essentially voodoo technology that is decades away from becoming anywhere near a reality. Make sense? NOPE! And, by the way, have you ever wondered who makes more on a gallon of gas? Is it the oil companies or the government?
