CHRIS CHRISTIE, JUST ANOTHER OPPORTUNIST?

Much as been made, a little too much I think, of the recent remarks made by Chris Christie regarding his disinterest in presidential politics when asked if Gov. Romney would be visiting to storm ravaged state. Also much has been made of his blatant ass kissing of Barry "Almighty" with some now going so far as to say Christie needs to reaffirm his support for Gov. Romney or risk being blamed if he is defeated. But let’s face it, other than some entertainment value, what have most people, including those in New Jersey really gotten from Mr. Christie? Now granted he was the keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention and is now being rumored to have been Gov. Romney’s first choice for his vice president. There, I think it safe to say, we may have just dodged a bullet.

But let’s face it, when it comes to making the really tough decisions and making the effort to get one’s state back to where is possesses some semblance of fiscal sanity, Chris Christie is no Mitch Daniels, Scott Walker or Bobby Jindal. He’s also not even a John Kasich or Rick Scott.   So in the big scheme of things, would I have preferred Mr. Christie not to have said some of the things that he said?   Of course, but he did. Now I doubt very seriously that we’ll be hearing from him any grand reaffirmation to the Republican candidate in this the most important election in many of our lifetimes. Which will only prove the point that for a very big man, Mr. Christie is, in reality, a very small man. And while he may claim the presidential politics isn’t particularly important to him right now, the fact that he’s up for re-election next year very obviously is.
