Obviously if they're not willing to be part of the solution, the only other option is that they wish to be part of the problem. And if that is what they are going to insist upon then they should not continue to be on the receiving end of one more dime of U.S. taxpayer money. How hard of a decision is that to make? By they're now deciding to go after the informants involved in assisting us in our endeavor to kill bin Laden, they have now apparently chosen on which side of this battle they wish to be. They seem to have made a very conscious decision to take whatever action they can to thwart our efforts in combating these rag-headed religious zealots who are out to do nothing less than to destroy our country. And yet, they feel that the should still continue to be on our rather generous payroll. Does it not call into question the seriousness of their commitment and demonstrate very clearly their lack of resolve in fighting these terrorists, when they go out and arrest those who are providing to us some of the most vital information? The Pakistani army went so far as to categorically deny on Wednesday that one of its majors was among a group of Pakistanis who, Western officials, say were arrested for feeding the CIA information before the successful American raid that resulted in Osama bin Laden being allowed to enjoy his 72 virgins.
The New York Times, not usually a publication that I pay very much attention to, first reported on the arrests of at least five Pakistani informants Tuesday, reporting that among these informants was an army major who had also been detained. Supposedly it was this major who had copied down license plates of cars visiting the al-Qaida chief’s compound in Pakistan in the weeks before the raid. A Western official in Pakistan confirmed that five Pakistanis who had provided information to the CIA before the May 2 operation had been arrested by Pakistan’s top intelligence service. But a Pakistani army spokesman, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas, adamantly denied that there had been any army officers who had been arrested in the round up, saying the report was “false and totally baseless.” Neither the army nor Pakistan’s spy agency would confirm or deny the overall report about the detentions. Of course they're not going to comment, why risk doing or saying something that has the would have any possible chance of risking the steady flow of money from us to them.
Apparently what is known so far is that the group of detained Pakistanis included the owner of a safe house rented to the CIA to observe bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, which is an army town not far from the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, or so said a U.S. official. The owner was detained along with a “handful” of other Pakistanis, said the same official. The Western officials, of course, spoke on condition of anonymity regarding any discussions of sensitive intelligence matters. The fate of the purported CIA informants who were arrested remains very much unclear, but American officials told the Times that CIA Director Leon Panetta raised the issue when he visited Islamabad last week to meet with Pakistani military and intelligence officers. Good old Leon, another imbecilic Clinton retread , is about as useful in the "War on Terror," excuse me, the "Overseas Contingency Operation", as is the proverbial screen door on a submarine. He no more belongs in his current position that Barry belongs in his.
U.S.-Pakistani relations have been strained for some time, but have become even more so ever since the raid by Navy SEALs on Pakistani territory, which was quite the embarrassment for Pakistan’s crack military. But that's not to say that there aren't other issues as well contributing to the tension between the two countries. Officials said the arrests of the "suspected" informants was just the latest evidence that the fractured relationship between the two nations won't be healing anytime soon. The Times also said that at a closed briefing last week, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee asked Michael Morell, the deputy CIA director, to rate Pakistan’s cooperation with the United States on counterterrorism operations, on a scale of 1 to 10. “Three,” Morell replied, at least according to officials familiar with the exchange. Let's be very clear here, even that is a gross exaggeration. Look, these Muslim sympathizers stick together even more so than do immoral and disgusting Democrats. They take our money and then turn right around and stab us in the back. Sounds allot like "Hope and Change" if you ask me.
There were some American officials who, in speaking to the Times, cautioned that Morell‘s comment were nothing more than a snapshot of the current relationship and did not represent Barry "Almighty’s" overall assessment regarding the relationship between the two countries. “We have a strong relationship with our Pakistani counterparts and work through issues when they arise,” Marie Harf, a CIA spokeswoman, told the newspaper. “Director Panetta had productive meetings last week in Islamabad. It’s a crucial partnership, and we will continue to work together in the fight against al-Qaida and other terrorist groups who threaten our country and theirs.” Man, talk about naïve. Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, said in an interview with the Times that the CIA and the Pakistani spy agency “are working out mutually acceptable terms for their cooperation in fighting the menace of terrorism. It is not appropriate for us to get into the details at this stage.” Blah, blah, blah.
Not only does the maintaining of this very questionable relationship call into question the determination on both the part of Barry and the Pakistanis in wiping out the terrorist threat, it siphons off money that we simply don't have the luxury of giving away, and to what end anyway. It is just not a wise expenditure of what are, without a doubt, very limited funds. We're just not getting much bang for our buck. Hell, we're not getting any bang for our buck. We're giving big bucks to those who are essentially nothing more than informers and protectors under the employ of our enemies. How much sense does that make? These guys are the ultimate double dippers! They're getting paid by the bad guys for protection and money from us for, what exactly? I just think that the time has finally come to turn off the spigot. We're broke, and if the Pakistanis really wanted to prove that they're on our side in this war, then maybe they should provide us with a few freebies in order to get back on our good side. Maybe then we'll once again start sending some money their way.
