ANOTHER 'SWING STATE' DETERMINED TO SHOOT ITSELF IN THE FOOT?
We've been hearing now, for what seems like forever, from Barry surrogates in the media, and elsewhere, about how there is supposed to be some mythical economic recovery underway. And if that is in fact the case, then it has to be one of the most anemic recoveries to take place since World War II. And it would also seem that this supposed "recovery" is moving much slower in some areas of the country than it is in others. Take the "swing state" of Colorado for example. Seven counties out there in the 'Centennial State' are experiencing a recovery that seems to be moving so slow as to be going backwards. At least that's according to a letter from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) recently obtained by The Colorado Observer. It's there in those seven counties located in this state where, if you can believe it, Barry actually leads in the polls, the percentage of those unemployed is close to or exceeding 20% of the population. And that's according to a letter from the Chief Economist of CDLE.
The letter addressed to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which was obtained through the Colorado Open Records Act, was sent out on August 29 as is actually required by federal law. According to something called the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act, whatever the Hell that is, the Colorado Labor Department is required to certify those counties where the "Not Employed Rate" surpasses 19.5%. The "Not Employed Rate" is defined as "the percentage of individuals over the age of 18 who reside within the community and who are ready, willing and able to be employed but are unable to find employment as determined by the State Department of Labor." Wow, is that a mouthful or what? And I'm quite sure that were it not for the initiative of The Colorado Observer, this little tidbit would never have seen the light of day, since it's pretty safe to assume that none of our faux journalists currently in the employ of our state-controlled media would have gone in search if such information.
Ranking highest among the seven counties mentioned in this letter was Costilla County, which came in with a 23.56 percent unemployment rate, or essentially 1 out of every 4 of those willing and able to be employed. Is that not mindboggling? And the list runs from larger counties like Pueblo (20.09%), Montrose (20.62%) and Fremont (19.66%) to those with smaller populations like Huerfano (21.78%), Archuleta (19.97%) and Dolores (19.85%). Whereas the unemployment rate doesn’t include people who are out of work, but have given up looking for a job, the "Not Employed Rate" gives a fuller picture of the dire economic situation many Coloradans are currently facing. And I'd be very interested in finding who it is that the voters in those particular seven countries support for president, Barry or Romney. Overall Barry leads in the state by something lie 4 points. I'm just curious if these folks have learned anything from their decision to vote for Barry the first time around or if they plan on sticking with him.
Colorado is one of several states that have fallen victim to what is essentially Barry’s nonexistent "economic recovery." And just because he and his many minions make the claim that we are in the ‘midst’ of one doesn’t make it so. Ask the folks in Colorado whose official unemployment rate just last month dropped to 8.2%, surpassing the national unemployment rate for first time in nearly 7 years. While unemployment fell from 8.3% the previous month, Colorado’s unemployment rate rose for four consecutive months prior to that. So I now find myself wondering if these folks will choose to once again, as they did in 2008, err on the side of stupidity and choose to vote for Barry. Or, will they, instead, vote for someone, this time around, whose actually interested in, and capable of, working to improve things and not only in working to make matters so much worse. I suppose only time will tell if the priority for these folks is to elect someone focused on people working again or someone interested only in getting more people on the government dole.
