Gov. Mitt Romney and his campaign have decided to ramp up their criticism of Barry "Almighty's" lack of any kind of an economic record starting on Wednesday, saying that Barry’s "government-heavy" approach favors the redistribution of people’s hard-earned money and has made Americans much more dependent on the federal government. Writing in USA Today, Mr. Romney said that Barry has presided over the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression, creating a "stagnant economy that fosters government dependency." I would argue that there has been anything that has taken place that could actually be referred as a "recovery."
Campaign manager Matt Rhoades followed that up with a memo that said a newly surfaced audio from 1998, in which then-Illinois state senator, Barry "Almighty" says he believes in wealth redistribution, is crystallizing the differences between the two candidates with 48 days to go before Election Day. "Mitt Romney's vision for America is an opportunity society, where free people and free enterprise thrive and success is admired and emulated, not attacked," Mr. Rhoades said. "President Obama's vision for America is a government-centered society, where government grows bigger and more active, occupying more of our everyday lives."
And as to be expected our stellar little cadre over at the White House on Wednesday did its best to simply dismiss Mr. Romney and his allies as appeaaring "desperate" in there efforts to try to divert voters’ attention with a 14-year-old tape recording. "When a campaign is having a bad day or a bad week or some might say a bad month … you sometimes witness an effort to, it seems desperate, to change the subject," said White House press secretary Jay "The Dim Bulb" Carney. Ok, granted the tape may be 14 years old, but absolutely EVERYTHING that Barry has done, or attempted to do, over the course of the last 4 years clearly demonstrates that he still thinks this very same way!
The latest round of attacks and counterattacks follow a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll Wednesday that showed Mr. Romney has lost a little more ground to Barry over the past month. And what struck me as being a rather bizarre aspect of this survey of 900 registered voters, is the fact that a majority seemed to be of the opinion that Barry is deemed to be better equipped to deal with the economy. Really? What planet have these morons been living on for the last 4 years? Also, these same folks said that they are growing increasingly optimistic about the direction of the country and the economy. Ok, so what has occurred that would actually encourage any level of optimism? Did I miss something?
It was in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday that Mr. Romney sought to shift the focus on what he sees as being Barry's failed economic vision. "I think a society based on a government-centered nation where government plays a larger and larger role, redistributes money, that is the wrong course for America," Romney said in the interview. "I believe the right course for America is one where government steps in to help those in need … but then we let people build their own lives, create enterprises. He pointed to an audio clip in which Barry is heard defending government action to redistribute wealth in an address at Loyola University, while also arguing that those who defend the role of government also must work to make it streamlined and effective. RIGHT!
