It would seem that that stellar House member from the great state of Texas, Ms. Sheila Jackson Lee, has a bit of a problem with the Federal Aviation Administration authorization bill currently awaiting Barry "Almighty's" signature. Her main beef, I guess, is the fact that it directs the Transportation Security Administration to allow more airports privatize their screening areas because, she says, and she thinks that the handing off such duties to private companies could result in another 9/11 attack. “My comment: we are looking forward to returning to 9/11,” Jackson Lee said at a House Homeland Security subcommittee hearing. Imagine that, a Democrat whose concerned about another 9/11. It has been reported in Politico that TSA chief John Pistole said the new bill would open the program to all 450 U.S. airports that currently use TSA screeners. And that is as it should be. After all, having these "screeners" being federal employees was nothing than a Democrat scheme to expand their voter base.
Joining in with Ms. Jackson Lee is fellow Democratic Congressman, Jerry "Lou" Costello, who, in typical Democrat fashion, proceeded to then demonstrate his obvious lack of any significant brain power, saying that he wondered why Republicans would limit privatization efforts to airport screeners. In what can only be described as one of the stupidest things I think I've ever heard, Mr. Costello said, “I think if we’re going to start contracting out the security of the flying public, then why don’t we contract out the FBI or DEA or Secret Service or Capitol Hill Police?” According to Politico, Costello, a former police officer, said screening should remain in the hands of trained professionals, not companies looking to make a profit. Trained professionals? He must mean the child molesters, those who enjoy strip searching old ladies and riffling through passenger luggage for anything that might be of slightest value. Are those the professionals to which this moron is referring? Yup, these are the people I want doing this important job.
This clown "Lou" Costello went on to say, “Security is, in my judgment, a function for professional law enforcement officials and should not go to the lowest bidder and that’s what you have when you contract out.” Adding, “The safety of the traveling public should not be jeopardized in order to save money.” Well, it would seem rather obvious here that folks like Costello and Jackson Lee believe preventing another 9/11 attack is to be solely a task that can only be accomplished by under worked and over paid unionized federal employees. You know the same folks we can't fire no matter how egregious the behavior of the type of which that we have seen any number of times since this entire process was first brought on line. Like I've already said, the purpose behind having these screeners being federal employees had nothing whatsoever to do with increasing the level of safety for the flying public and everything to do with creating more unionized federal employees, the vast majority of, are reliable Democrat voters.
