SO NOW WE'RE FLYING THE FLAG AT HALF STAFF FOR DEAD ENTERTAINERS?...

Ok, I suppose I am going to sound cold to some, but since when does the death of a just one more drug addict rate the lowering of our flag to half-staff?  Ms. Whitney Houston was one more on a long list of narcissistic entertainers who have chosen to end their lives, with their method of choice being either an overdose on drugs or because of booze. The lowering of the flag has always been, at least up to this point time, an act of respect reserved for those unique Americans who have, in some manner, provided a service to this country or taken part in some very courageous act. Ms. Houston was an entertainer, nothing more. I lost count of the number of times that I heard over the course of the last week, how it was that Ms. Houston was blessed with such a gift, and yet she chose to waste it. Was that act not the epitome of a selfishness not in any way deserving of such a tribute as the lowering of our nation's flag?  And does that not demean the act to the point where it comes to mean just a little bit less when it is done for those truly deserving?
