The Republicans may not realize it, but they just may have an extra point of leverage in the debt ceiling talks, that being Barry "Almighty's" birthday. It’s on August 4 and our stellar president will be turning the big 5-0. It may come as a bit of a surprise, knowing him as we all do, but he’s decided to have a quiet little celebration with family and a just few close friends. Ah, not so much. However, what Barry is planning is a rather extravagant, to say the least, fundraising bash August 3 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, including a birthday concert that will be teeming with celebrities. And, for couples willing to cough up $35,800, there will be a private dinner with Barry and, I assume, Mrs. Barry. And all this just one day after the government is scheduled to go belly up, running out of cash! But as far as Barry is concerned, as long as he can work to keep the campaign coffers full, the Hell with the government coffers.
Undoubtedly, the sight of so much money getting thrown around and the presence of any number of butt kissing stars all crooning to Barry will most assuredly make for quite the stirring contrast with a looming federal government bankruptcy featuring unpaid government workers, seniors and soldiers all wondering how they’ll be able to continue to afford their gas and groceries, along with our shuttered national parks, and angry investors trying to cash out their Treasury Bills. If the government does default, I think it might be safe to say that the lavish birthday celebration just might do much more to harm Barry’s reelection prospects than help them. But hey, with the mentality of many American people being what it is, you never really know. Maybe House GOP Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who has been refusing to back down while needling Barry to the extent that the president stormed out of a White House meeting just yesterday, may also think that this may not play too well for Barry.
Anyway, the birthday festivities kick off at 4 pm with a concert that will supposedly feature singer Jennifer Hudson along with many other A-List stars, at least according to the Chicago Sun-Times. To show that hope and change is very much alive and well for everyone, there will also be a special pauper section included, most likely kept well out of sight, for all of those choosing to contribute a measly $50. But the general admission ticket for this little soiree is $200, and as always with our buddy Barry, the more you choose to "give," the more you get. For $1,000, you can sit in the rich people’s area with easy access to alcohol. And for $10,000 you not only get a great seat, but you also get a photo with Barry the birthday boy himself. Or maybe a cardboard cutout, I'm not sure. So I was thinking, maybe the real reason Barry's been so cranky lately is because he's feeling a bit overwhelmed, how can he be expected to make plans for his birthday bash/fundraiser AND to worry about our country going into default all at the same time.
I think it's always nice when Barry gives us all a little peek inside and allows us all to see these examples that provide to the American people a little proof regarding exactly what the true priorities of their president really are. And it really shows, quite well, what a hypocrite he really is. He can make all kinds of accusations against the Republicans, while at the same time he only worried about getting a massive influx of campaign cash. It all sounds so much like a "Let them eat cake," kinda thing here. If we'd even be allowed to eat cake, after all, we do still have way too many obese folks running around here. Anyway, I'm sure there are more than enough folks, especially in the black community, who will be more than willing to overlook this cavalier behavior and not begrudge Barry his birthday party. No matter how extravagant. After all, everyone's entitled to a birthday party, right? And besides, all those people who are so busy giving him a hard time about having a birthday party are only doing it because he's black and they're just a bunch of racists.
