NAACP, A GROUP IN SEARCH OF A PURPOSE?

Rep. Ted Poe Makes An Excellent Point

Determined to do whatever it takes to maintain his seat at the Democrat Party table, Ben Jealous, head of that most preeminent of racial groups, the NAACP, on Monday once again took it upon himself to perpetuate one of the Democrat's main talking points, of late, by going to far as to compare his group’s fight against voter ID laws that have been passed in several states, to the struggle for civil rights in the 1960s. Jealous, whose titles include CEO and president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), said these are “Selma and Montgomery times,” referring, of course, to historic Alabama civil rights confrontations. He proceeded to challenge those attending the NAACP’s annual convention to 'redouble' their efforts to get out the vote in November. Sounding like a voice from the past, he said, “We must overwhelm the rising tide of voting suppression with the high tide of registration and mobilization and motivation and protection.” he said. He went on to say, “Simply put, the NAACP will never stand by as any state tries to encode discrimination into law.” I'm still confused about what it is about having someone prove who they are, before they are permitted to vote, that is somehow discriminatory. Is it that Jealous thinks blacks are simply too stupid to figure out how to get some form of ID? In most states such things are free so it can't be a matter of cost. That only leaves the fact that they're too stupid.

The power to vote will be a key theme of the weeklong 103rd convention, which was expected to host about 8,000 attendees. Eric 'The Racist' Holder will be putting in an appearance although it was postponed from Monday until Tuesday, and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Vice President Joe Biden are also expected to speak at some point, making Monday sort of like a warm up. What has Mr. Jealous', as well as the Democrat Party's, panties in such a bunch is the fact that since 2010, at least 10 states, including Texas, have passed laws requiring people to show a government-issued photo identification card when they go to the polls. By the reaction that we've seen from both Jealous and any number of slimy Democrats, you'd think that those going to vote were to be asked to give up their first born. Supporters of voter ID laws contend they are necessary to protect against voter fraud. But Democrat critics argue instances of such voter fraud are extremely rare and that voter ID laws could suppress turnout among the elderly, poor and some racial minorities who are less likely to have driver’s licenses or passports and who might find it harder to miss work or lose pay to obtain proper ID. And I'm sure you can understand why the Democrats are so upset. That would, of course, be because voter fraud is one of their primary election tools. Thousands of dead voters show up at every election just to vote for their favorite Democrat.

The chosen venue for this unique little gathering of malcontents, the George R. Brown Convention Center, was only about half-full with those assembled to hear Jealous’ bellow on for about an hour, and as to be expected from the caliber of those in attendance, by the end he had much of the crowd standing and shouting, “Forward ever, backward never!” Jealous told the crowd, “Our democracy is literally under attack from within. We have wealthy interests seeking to buy elections and when that ain’t enough, suppress the vote.” Adding, “There is no battle that is more important or urgent to the NAACP right now than the battle to preserve democracy itself. Let me be very clear, our right to vote is the right upon which our ability to defend every other right is leveraged.” Right, the mission of this group is to preserve our democracy. What a joke! Jealous droned on, “If you let someone diminish the power of your vote you will already have lost a battle.” Jealous said with 120 days remaining before the November elections, his organization’s members could allow the election to be stolen from them “or we can double down on democracy and overcome the tide of voter suppression.” He went on to add, “If we simply accept things as they are and allow those who wish to turn back the clocks and tides of all that we have gained, and block the forward movement of our movement for human rights … we will have failed in our mission and our calling.”

It seems to me that the initial purpose of this organization has been, over time, dramatically altered to where it has become much less concerned about the advancement of colored people, and much more concerned about the advancement of a certain political philosophy. Maybe a better name for this group, and one for which it could still use its original moniker, could be something like, the 'National Association for the Advancement of the Communist Party' (NAACP). Because these days that's what it's really all about. Because if it was truly concerned with actually seeing to it that blacks were able to advance, it would be telling its members, as well as black folks everywhere, not to vote for Barry, or for any Democrat, for that matter. But let's be honest here, patriotism and love of country runs pretty shallow in this little group of habitual, and chronic, complainers. Their main concern is, and has been for decades now, that when it comes to choosing whom to vote for, to make sure to vote for whoever it is that's most likely to give them the most while requiring the least from them in return. The sense of entitlement possessed by these people knows no bounds. And while they seem perfectly happy to bad mouth our country whenever the opportunity may present itself, at the same time they're not the least bit shy about walking around with their hand out. And when asked to provide some 'work' in exchange for said handout, they scream racism. They're really quite pathetic.
