I'm sure we all well remember the vague bumper sticker slogan of Barry's 2008 campaign. And I'm also pretty sure that most Americans would agree with the fact that Barry "Almighty" has seemingly been quite successful in changing, or “fundamentally transforming," to use his words, the United States of America. At least that's what was reflected in a recent poll* released just this past Monday by The Hill. Now while the poll does reflect that a majority of Americans agree with the fact that, yes, Barry has brought about 'change', it also reveals that a majority of Americans seem to be less than pleased with the type of change that he has worked to bring about. And you can count me as being among those who are of that opinion. While there is a lot that can be said for change, change is not always good. To prove my point I ask only that you look back over the course of the last 3+ years. Change has not been good for us.
The Hill has more information: "A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership. I can only assume that the lion's share of that 35 percent, were blacks. The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under Obama’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall. Conducted for The Hill by Pulse Opinion Research, the poll comes in the wake of last month’s Supreme Court decision that upheld the primary elements of Obama’s signature healthcare legislation. It found 68 percent of likely voters — regardless of whether they approve or disapprove of Obama — believe the president has substantially transformed the country since his 2009 inauguration."
While I suppose that it should not really come as any big surprise, 91% of those self-identified as Republicans believe the president has most definitely taken us down the wrong road. But what does come as a bit of a surprise is the fact that what's being described as a shocking number of Democrat, essentially 1-in-5, also agreed with that assessment. The poll asked those described as being likely voters, regardless of whether you approve or disapprove of him, would Mitt Romney significantly change America?” An overwhelming majority, or 89 percent, saw the choice between Mitt Romney and Barry "Almighty" as being “important” for the future of our country. Similarly, almost half of the people interviewed, or 47%, said that they were paying more attention to the current election than they did in 2008. Well, that's yet to be determined. Americans, as you know, are notorious for not paying attention, until it's too late.
And although the recent health care ruling was likely at the forefront of everyone’s minds at the time, the Barry administration has implemented some rather significant, as well as disastrous, changes over the course of the past few years. And some of the more radical ones that have taken place in just the past several months, include Barry’s flip-flop-flip that resulted in his now fully endorsing gay marriage, his altering of our immigration policy, essentially by decree, and a realization that the government stated unemployment rate of 8.2% may not be going away anytime soon. All can be seen as being contributing factors regarding how it is that so many now feel that the change he has wrought has not necessarily been for the better, and that the direction in which we now find ourselves headed is not the right direction. But will enough Americans be of the same opinion come Election Day? Now that is the $64,000 Question.
*Conducted on July 5 among 1,000 likely voters, the poll reportedly has a margin of error of 3 percentage points
