Emanuel Cleaver, chairman of that rather odd assortment of strange individuals who seem to possess an over-inflated sense of importance, and who together refer to themselves as the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), said on Thursday that African-Americans who don’t vote "ought to give us their color back." Come, is this idiot serious? What I'm sure he meant by that was that 'African-Americans' who don't vote Democrat "ought to give us their color back." And who is the "us" to whom this goof refers?
Anyway, Cleaver was attending the CBC forum on voting rights, and went on with his idiotic comments saying, "That’s why I become so angry at any African-American who refuses to vote. They are not worth the color if they don’t vote. They ought to give us their color back. Their African-American credentials need to be snatched if they don’t vote." Ok, now I'm not black, but if I heard some clown like this Cleaver guy talking that way to me, I believe I'd get a little pissed. But hey, that's just me.
But old Cleaver wasn't finished. Nope! He went on to say, "That’s an insult to the ancestors and the people who brought us to where we are right now. There’d be no Black Caucus but for the black men and women who fought and died that we might have an opportunity to gather here in Washington that there would be 42 members of the Congressional Black Caucus." Cleaver explained the challenges that blacks once faced to exercise their right to vote, including, of course, poll taxes.
In attempting to somehow make the point that voter ID laws are somehow designed to keep only black folks from voting, he said, black voters in southern states were once required to take a literacy test in order to vote. He said he was most irritated that black voters in Alabama once had to take a literacy test which consisted of them reciting the Constitution. The only way they could avoid having to take the literacy test was if their grandfather had voted.
"The law was unless your grandfather voted, you had to take a literacy test, and of course, no grandfather of a black person had ever voted, so all black people in Texas and many other southern states had to take the test," he said. "It says: Before you can vote, you must recite the Constitution. And of course nobody’s going to be able to recite the Constitution, so they can’t- they’re then rendered to be too illiterate to vote," Cleaver said.
Blacks in this country continue to do themselves a huge disservice by continuing to listen to idiots like this bonehead Cleaver. What they fail to realize here is that the CBC doesn't give a squat about the circumstances of most blacks, if they did they would have long ago 'forced' our black president to do things that would, for instance, improve employment prospects for blacks. But they never did that. All they do is to assist a corrupt Democrat Party succeed in keeping black tied to the party plantation.
Blacks must come to realize that the ONLY way they will ever be free to move beyond the existence that the Democrat Party has constructed for them, is for them to cut the cord with that same Democrat Party. They are more than capable enough of standing on their own two feet, but for decades they have been told that the deck is stacked against them and they have no hope of succeeding without 'help' from the Democrat Party. Sadly they have been lied to even by those who have come from them, frauds like this clown Cleaver and the others in his CBC gang.
