ANOTHER PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW DEMOCRATS PLAY THE GAME...

Dianne Feinstein, is just another sleazy Democrat who is up for re-election this November, who thinks she’s just, oh so special. Her main opposition this time around comes in the form of a Republican candidate by the name of Elizabeth Emken. But funny thing, while Ms. Emken would like very much to debate the three-term senator, Feinstein has rejected the idea outright. Hell, even the Los Angeles Times thinks it’s a good idea for the candidates to face off publicly. So what might be the problem here?

Last summer, after Emken won the Republican nomination, the Times published an editorial in favor of a debate. So says the Los Angeles Times: “Sen. Dianne Feinstein had an excuse for not debating her opponents in the first round of this year’s election — there were 23 of them. But now that the voters have winnowed the field to two, the four-term Democratic incumbent owes it to California’s voters to appear publicly with Republican challenger Elizabeth Emken.”

But again, Ms. Feinstein has said a very emphatic NO. Which begs the question, what is it that this sitting senator of 18 years, is so afraid of? Let’s face it, she has the benefit of being the incumbent in what is a very liberal state. And her campaign has amassed a massive war chest with more than enough money to fend off nearly any challenger. And based on the latest poll numbers from CBRT/Pepperdine, Feinstein leads Emken by double digits. So you’d think that Feinstein would want to debate, even look forward to it.

But as Ms. Emken’s campaign is quick to point out, Feinstein has not been made to face a candidate in a public debate since the year 2000. And also, as Ms. Emkin’s website also points out, much has happened since back in 2000. So as those us who can still remember Sherman and Mr. Peabody, let us set the Way Back Machine for October of 2000, step in, and take a little journey back in time. And let’s use the experience to refresh our memory and to see just how much the world has actually changed since then.

In October 2000:
- Bill Clinton was President
- Gray Davis was governor of California
- Saddam Hussein was running Iraq
- Most Americans had never heard of Osama bin Laden
- Most Americans had never heard of Barack Obama, either
- The World Trade Center towers dominated the Manhattan skyline
- No one had ever seen a Harry Potter movie
- No one had ever followed or friended anyone on Twitter or Facebook, or used an iPod, Phone, or iPad
- Unemployment was…only 3.9%
- The federal debt was…only $5.7 trillion
- Gas was…only $1.79 a gallon

Feinstein continues to reject the debate proposal, but I think it fair to say that the topic is not going away. But this is how corrupt politicians play the game. They feel they can do whatever they please and never be held to account by the people. They work to do nothing but work to increase the power of government over those who they were sent to ‘represent’ not hold power over. Feinstein long forgot why she is in the Senate. And when that happens politicians need to be, in the words of Clint Eastwood, “let go.”
