WHEN DOES A STIMULUS BILL = MONEY LAUNDERING??

Well, well, well. Tell me it just isn't so. Apparently Congress' chief scorekeeper has once again found himself in the uncomfortable position of having to raise the cost estimate of Barry‘s much hyped, and now two-year-old, cure all of an economic-stimulus program. It is now calculated that this "obamanation" will now end up costing taxpayers, that's folks like you and me, a whopping $821 billion — or $34 billion more than originally projected. Imagine that! We've been snookered by this band of political shysters yet again. Listening to Rush yesterday, he presented an interesting premise on this whole bogus stimulus thing that I hadn't really thought of before. He approached it from the perspective of it being nothing more than a complicated money laundering scheme designed to effectively add millions of dollars to the coffers of the Democrat Party. The way he explained it, if I remember correctly, was that most of the money spent thus far went to keep public employees, teachers, city officials and the like, working so that they could then turn around and continue to pay their union dues which would then, via whatever Union involved, be spent in favor of supporting Democrats. So it's all nothing more than one big vicious circle funded by more and more of our, the taxpayer's, money. It's insane!

Also the supposed economic boost, something I never personally witnessed, that "resulted" from the added government spending is now beginning to wear off, so said the nonpartisan, or so they'd like to claim, Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in a new report that came out on Wednesday. The CBO said that in the final three months of 2010, the stimulus was paying to keep between 1.3 million and 3.5 million people in jobs, both down from the peak recorded in the prior three-month period. Just a little question here as a side note going back to the premise presented by Rush, were those folks in the private or the public sector. Anyway, the drop was expected, unlike most of the things relating to the economy that seem to happen so unexpectedly, since the biggest chunk of stimulus money was spent out during fiscal year 2010, which ended Sept. 30. Barry‘s stimulus program turned two years old last week, but it remains a thorny political issue. The main reason for that is because it accomplished none of what was claimed that it would, most noticeable being that unemployment would be maintained at 8 percent and no higher and here we are hovering around 10 percent. Now I know we keep hearing about jobs that were "saved." But just how does one calculate such things?

House Republicans sought to cancel several billion dollars in unspent stimulus money as part of the $61 billion in spending cuts they passed Saturday, and Republicans on both sides of the Capitol have introduced legislation to try to reclaim other money or at least audit what has actually been spent. Or wasted, depending on your political affiliation. “The Department of Energy alone had $39 billion in stimulus money — all, I might say, borrowed — $9 billion more than its entire budget. It was a recipe for waste, a scatter-gun approach that raised many public expectations, but in the end provided few achievements and fewer yet jobs,” said Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, New Jersey Republican, in the debate last week. Was anyone really naïve enough to believe that the rationale behind this mammoth spending bill was so that the government could then do any of what those who voted for it claimed would be done? It was nothing more than a monumental waste of taxpayer money on nearly a cataclysmic level. And the more I think about the premise presented by Rush, the more it makes sense to me because that's essentially what the evidence shows has taken place. Now we have crowds of complaining union malcontents and a group chickensh!t Democrats in three states clamoring for more money that quite simply just doesn't exist.

But with their never say die attitude, Congressional Democrats have said that the remaining stimulus funds need to be spent. “There are people who are now at their 99th level of not being able to get employed and get unemployment insurance. They need these jobs,” said that proud to be a moron, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, during the floor debate. Estimates for the actual cost of the stimulus have changed dramatically, rising from the initial $787 billion price tag to reach $862 billion, then falling to $814 billion and now ticking back up to $821 billion. And as I asked earlier, just what have the taxpayers gotten in return for spending of this massive amount of money? They've seen a substantial chunk of that money go to keeping public employees on the payroll and paying their union dues as the unions act as nothing more than middle men, funneling the money right back to the Democrats. It's no wonder that clowns like Jackson want the rest of the money spent. Because they know that they'll be on the receiving end of a very large percentage of it. They see this as a prime opportunity to get their greedy mitts on what is to them, free money. Unions are a very critical source of money for today's Democrat Party and they will go to any lengths to preserve such a rich source of potential funds.

So this is really another fine mess the Democrats have gotten us in, and now want no part to play in getting us out. Their only answer is to spend more, more of what we haven't got. But the sad fact of the matter is that we're done, we're tapped out, we're BROKE, and still these pathetic Democrats, for one reason or another, just don't seem to be able to grasp the severity of our predicament. Bad times are headed our way, my friends, and the longer we dawdle regarding doing what it is that needs to be done and do not get our fiscal house in order, the sooner those bad times will arrive . Hell, those bad times may be unavoidable in any event. But Democrats insist on doing nothing more than whining, and in the case of those out in Wisconsin, Indiana and maybe soon Ohio, they're simply choosing to behave like children and run away. Like that's a viable solution to this mess that they and their union buddies got us into in the first place. Sometimes you have to behave like and adult and put petty politics aside and do what's best for the country. Because if we lose the country, we lose the whole enchilada baby. Wasting money when you have it is one thing, wasting it when you're broke is simply irresponsible. And right now, that's where the Democrats are, including Barry "Almighty." All they want to do is spend, spend, spend!
