SO, THE LAST FIVE YEARS HAVE BEEN A PARTY? WHO KNEW???

In looking back at all that has occurred over the course of the last five years I’m just can’t bring myself to view the destruction of my country, the gutting of our military, the government seizure of our healthcare system, nor the shredding of our Constitution as being things that could ever be viewed as being cause for a celebration. But then, I’m not a Democrat. My reason for even bringing this up stems from an appearance of Barry’s former White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, who took part in a roundtable, on a recent "Meet the Press" program.

The featured guest on this, one of the more idiotic episodes of this once venerable program, was none other than that flaming asshole of a White House adviser, Dan Pfeiffer who, during the discussion, painted what can only be described as a ludicrously optimistic portrait of what he thinks lays ahead regarding the 2014 midterm elections and how things are likely to play out for the Democrats. This imbecile actually went so far as to claim, and rather emphatically, that, "I believe we will keep the Senate." I’m not sure who it was that he was trying to convince.

It was later in the same show that Gibbs actually admitted that, yes, the Democrats could "absolutely" lose the Senate. He added: "If [Obama] doesn't get more involved in raising money and making this a choice, as Dan Pfeiffer said, you lose the Senate. And, if you lose the Senate, turn out the lights because the party's over." But I thought his way of describing the last 5 years as being a party was a little distasteful. I mean who among us can look back at what has occurred over the course of the last 5 years and describe it as being anywhere near a party.

I honestly think that only someone who possesses a deep hatred of their own country would be able to look at where we stand today as nation and see it as sufficient reason to call it a party. Because personally, I find it all very depressing. At a time when we have millions of unemployed folks, millions of people on food stamps, millions more who are now on some form of government assistance and with millions of people who have lost, or will lose, their health insurance, I guess I’m a little confused how anyone, even a Democrat, could call this a party.

But, as we all know, Democrats are more than a little different than normal people and as such have a tendency to view things differently from us normal folks. I mean, who but a Democrat could view America as being in need of some sort of ‘fundamental transformation’? But it is that warped vision that has been the driving force behind the Democrat agenda of the last five years. And has America been made better? I would argue that even a cursory glance would reveal an America that has been made far worse off than it was just a mere 60 months ago.

Yes, we have been transformed. From a once very prosperous and faith based nation into what is now the equivalent of some soulless third world banana republic. In 2008 there was much talk about change, but as we have came to find out, change is not always a good thing. And change for the sake of change, more often than not, results in moving backward not forward, as was promised. So does there still remain enough of the American spirit that will cause enough people to come together to change our present course in what may very well be our last opportunity to do so? I guess we’ll find out in November.
