ACCORDING TO PELOSI, WHEN IT COMES TO OBAMACARE AND THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS, IT’S ALL GOOD…
In what I’m not quite sure was an attempt to convince herself, her fellow Democrats or we the American voter, Nancy "We Have To Pass It In Order To Find Out What’s In It" Pelosi, scumbag Democrat, said, "No, absolutely not," Democrats should not shy away from supporting Obamacare. That, even though a very heavily favored Democrat, Alex Sink, lost the special congressional election down here in Florida just this past Tuesday. Sink's Republican opponent, a fellow by the name of David Jolly, campaigned against Obamacare, but still, at least according to what Pelosi said at news conference on Thursday, that's not likely to be a winning strategy for Republicans come this November.
Old Nancy said, "I'm very proud of our House Democrats and how they have not only embraced the Affordable Care Act that they helped create, but how proud they are of it. I think that the Republicans are wasting their time using that as their electoral issue, and they will find that out." So I guess, if I’m understanding her correctly, she sees it as being a good thing, and apparently no big deal, that millions of Americans have now lost the healthcare coverage that they liked, myself included. But I’m not sure how she is able to convince herself that this is not, at least potentially, a gift to the Republicans. And who knows, she may even be right. After all, the American voter isn’t known for being particularly bright.
Pelosi said, of course she is disappointed that Sink lost. She described her sense of things by saying, "But I'm very proud of the effort that was made to get out the vote. I think that our candidate Alex Sink -- she's so excellent, so superb. And she said it just right. There are many good things about the Affordable Care Act that are good for the health and well-being of the American people. There are some things that need to be fixed. Let's do that. And that is the message of our members." She then went on to say, "So this is, for us, unfortunate -- came close, within two points. But again, we feel confident about the fuller participation in November and what that will mean for that election."
Jolly still faces a regular election in November, and Pelosi suggested that Democrats could very well prevail when there is likely to be a much larger voter turnout. Pelosi also made it clear that heading into the midterm election, the Democrats' focus will be on women's issues. She said, "House Democrats agree, for many of our members, supporting women, children and families, especially our veterans, has been our life's work. That's why we delivered our agenda...founded on three pillars: fair pay, including paycheck fairness and raising the minimum wage; paid sick leave; and affordable quality child care as the third pillar. We look forward to working together all of us on our agenda." So we’ll see if women are once again are stupid enough to fall for such drivel.
Speaker John ‘Bonehead’ Boehner, had a news conference of his own on Thursday, and was heard to say the Florida election reminds Republicans "that jobs and the economy remain the American people's top priority." But, he said, it's also a reminder "that the American people are still concerned about the president's health-care law." Now he can say what he wants, none of which can be trusted, but from what I’ve been hearing, Boehner wouldn’t have been all that disappointed had Sink actually won. Rumor also has it that Jolly got very little help from the RNC, which only serves to, once again, make the point that if you’re going to contribute you should contribute only to specific candidates. Otherwise you have no idea to whom it is that your money goes.
