"6"
I have written many times before about my severe lack of faith, as well as my extreme disappointment, in the American people, and about they're being unable, or unwilling, to properly identify the truly serious issues of the day. So at the risk of repeating myself, I do so one more time. This terminal form of gullibility still infecting so many Americans is what remains my primary area concern regarding a positive outcome in what could be a very critical election, an election that is now a little over 50 days away. I can only say that my sense of anxiety regarding its outcome, while not growing, has not really lessened by any significant degree either. If using the people that I spend a great deal of time around as a gauge, I'm just not so sure that what I'm hearing from supposed "experts" regarding the potential outcome of the coming election will actually, in the end, prove to be all that accurate. I'm not sensing any great concern when it comes to people realizing the dire shape that our country presently is in, and not just fiscally. Sure there have been any number of Tea Party rallies and rallies held by the likes of Glenn Beck, but I still worry about our side being able to generate the level of numbers that will be required for us to achieve victory. And yes I've seen and heard all of the talking heads telling me how it's going to be an absolute massacre, or a bloodbath, for the Democrats come November. But as all of you must know, the American voter is a rather strange creature to say the least, especially at election time. You never really know what will be running through anyone's mind at the time they cross the threshold and enter the voting booth. And if the last two elections are to be used to provide any sort of a trend, then one would have to say that at best it's still going to be very close to being little more than a crapshoot. Another reason for my being unsure about the potential outcome being prophesized is the fact that I know there is present in America today, a very determined group of individuals who have their own agenda to advance especially when it comes to their designs for our country's future. It is a group that is very well financed and is one much more comfortable lurking in the shadows, performing its toxic deeds while concealed by darkness. And it is a group able to pull the strings of those in power and which is not the least bit hesitant or concerned about using whatever means necessary to manipulate public opinion in its attempt to bring about some effect on election outcomes. And if the last 20 months have shown us anything at all, it is the fact that this group has a very willing ally currently occupying the Oval Office. Puppet masters such as George Soros are always eager to throw their money around to fund those willing to subvert our Constitution and the will of the people. But Mr. Soros is far from being the only culprit, but he's usually the one that is the most visible. It is he and his many unseemly associates, who, through their own vast personal wealth at their disposal, are capable of funding any number of fanatical groups who are intent upon pursuing any number of issues from the legalization of drugs to the gutting of the Second Amendment. Soros likes to be referred to as being a philanthropist and an investor, but such innocuous sounding titles only serve to distract from the true nature of the very real danger that he represents. And he demonstrated yet again this past Tuesday why it is he is to be considered one of the more potent enemies of freedom, when he donated of $100 million dollars the very leftist group, Human Rights Watch. This is but only one of the groups on the left who continue to be recipients of large sums of Soros money. Which should cause people to ask just what is it that Soros is investing in? Because this is a group which advocates for "gay rights" causes and also very actively promotes abortion. Our favorite billionaire nutjob announced that he was donating the money so that Human Rights Watch can expand their efforts globally. Now doesn't that just give you a warm and fuzzy. Soros told the New York Times that the gift is just one of many hefty political donations he plans to make that will likely continue benefiting groups on the pro-abortion side of the debate. This is the caliber of individual we need to be very wary of, because it is individuals like this who are only to happy to fund, and with very large sums of money, any endeavor that has as its specific purpose, the undermining of our Constitution.
So, if there is one thing that I do not have any degree of confidence in whatso"freakin"ever, it is the ability of the American people to make a conscious decision to do what is right for their country. It seems that as a people we Americans have morphed into a population made up of individuals whose primary objective in life is one that consists solely of obtaining that which is perceived as being only what's best for themselves at any given time. And, what it is that they can get in exchange for the expending of the least amount of effort required. It seems that over time a certain amount of cultural and societal decay has set in, to the point where we have essentially become nothing more than a nation of moochers and looters. If people were genuinely concerned about the present condition of their country they would be marching in the streets and in numbers that would easily dwarf the numbers of the most recent example of voter disgust, Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally. Let’s face it, we’re a pretty sad comparison when placed next to those who originally put this grand experiment together and then put it on its way. And I would say that, in a manner of speaking, we have let them down. And rather badly, I think. I worry that what this country is so desperately in need of, will not ever have the opportunity to take place. It's common knowledge the American people are not well known for their ability to properly prepare themselves for elections. They're quite lazy actually, usually preferring to take the easy way out, usually by relying on nasty, albeit productive, commercials, the limited knowledge and political biases of both friends and/or associates, or God forbid, the state run media as their source of information regarding political candidates. The 2008 election is the perfect example of voter idiocy regarding even the most important, even critical, of elections. They allowed the state run media to play a much bigger role in determining the outcome of the election than should have ever been permitted. Far too many voters remain willingly accepted at face value all they were told about Barry by members of the media who were so obviously in the tank for the candidate. The result is where we are today as a nation, in the toilet, economically, fiscally and internationally. Until enough Americans are willing to do the necessary legwork when it comes to determining the best candidate to vote for, those in the state run media will remain only too happy to jump in to fill the void created. The only problem is that very same void will be filled with the typical fact challenged and obviously biased information that one normally sees as coming from the state run media. So now we find ourselves with an election, the importance of which is quite literally unparalleled in my lifetime, looming just over the horizon, and where are we as far as the voters when it comes to them working toward preparing themselves so that they will then be able to vote intelligently. To be perfectly honest, I just don't know.
So let’s see. If I were to give it some thought and assign a numerical value that would accurately reflect the level of confidence that I have in the Republicans being able to achieve anywhere near the level of success that is being so loudly trumpeted in this November's election, just what might that number be. Well, if I'm using a 1-10 scale, with 1 being that I have absolutely no confidence and 10 being that I am very confident that the Republicans will take control of one or both Houses of Congress, right now I would have to say that my level of confidence is resting comfortably at "6". I just can't help but have this nagging sense that I'm being lulled into having a false of security by so many of those who are in the business of providing their opinion in the hopes of having an effect my opinion or my views. As well, I just can't quite seem to shake this feeling of impending doom that I have. It’s all more than a little unnerving. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing that would make me happier than to watch the election returns come in and then realize that come January 2011 the Republicans would be in charge of running one or both Houses of Congress. However, with that being said, I have lost count of the number of times I have heard various opinion makers claim that, "if the election were held today, the Democrats will lose the House." Well, as we all know, the election is not being held today, tomorrow or even next week. The election is being held in just a tad bit over 50 days. Which is more than enough time for any number of events to take place that can substantially shift or alter public opinion, or to allow the Democrats to implement any number of their patented, and frequently utilized, election shenanigans. The stupidity and/or ignorance of the American people still never ceases to amaze me. It's either that or they remain completely indifferent to what it is that is being perpetrated both against them and the country at large by the current majority party. To the point where I am just not all that comfortable in assuming all will come out as it is currently being predicted. Voter apathy, I think, is another thing that is needing to be dealt with and with it being at an all time high it is seen as being something else that can be taken full advantage of by those who have their own political agendas. Many voters have come to think they can no longer make any kind of a difference, since no matter whom they elect, seems to be willing to listen to them or care what it is that they have to say. If the Republicans are to have any chance at achieving anywhere near the degree of success currently being promoted, then they are going to have to convince a majority of voters that if they do vote for Republicans, the people will be listened to. But it's all going to boil down to trust. The last time the people trusted the Republicans, their trust was betrayed and rather badly. And that old adage comes to mind, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." And many people are not willing to take the chance on being fooled again, so that is where we now find ourselves. "We, the people" are the definite underdogs when it comes to being who it is that will drive the country and in which direction it will be driven.
Another major concern of mine that I feel could have a definite impact on not only this coming election, but maybe even more so the election in 2012, is the fact that as a whole we have some very questionable people and organizations which possess a growing capability of swaying public opinion through some pretty unsavory means. To the point where now many people have allowed themselves to be convinced by a very select few shady individuals as well as organizations who we can very safely say possess an ulterior motive, and advocate the point of view that America is undeserving of its place in the World and that it is need of some form of punishment for all of its supposed sins. Coming in the form of any number of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), (www.discoverthenetworks.org) we have some very sinister forces at work here in America. Forces who focus their efforts well below the surface and who are able to stay well hidden thanks to their many friends not only in the state run media but in our government as well. And while I wish I could, with a clear conscience, make the claim that it is primarily the Democrats who are the ones most often willing to aid and abet these dark forces, that may not necessarily always prove to be true. The uncommon amount of sleaze presently running through the streets of our nation's capital these days has had a significant impact on members of both political parties. But I think it very fair to say that it is, more often then not, the Democrat Party that has had the most adverse effect on our country and has played the lead role in expediting its deterioration as well as its decline into it's present sad condition. It has repeatedly been willing to throw the American people under the bus if there was, and is, any way it will add to their coffers or any chance that by doing so they can extend the power of government. The insidious behavior coming from those whom we elect is a direct reflection of those whom it is that they get their money from. Whether it's the environmentalist wacko groups, animal rights kooks, the climate-changers, or even Big Labor, the Democrat Party is the major recipient of the big bucks that pour in from these leftist fringe groups. Such groups masquerade their true intentions, sometimes successfully and sometime not so, and it is through the use of substantial funds contributed by questionable sources, that they are then able flood the airwaves with their fictional rhetoric in an attempt to convince the American people of something that is patently untrue. These same groups are decidedly anti-American to say the least, and their focus is essentially on nothing more than the complete destruction of America. And in exchange for all the money that is provided by these "radical" groups to politicians, they expect, and they get, the advancement of an agenda that reflects their rather skewed view of America and the World. And it's unfortunate that it is a view that can be said to match up rather nicely with that of the Democrat Party. Which makes it all the more imperative to vote out those currently wielding power in favor of those whose view of America is more in line with the view held by rational, patriotic Americans.
So, we can all only hope that all those making the claim that Republicans will be successful this November are correct and this nagging feeling of apprehension that I have will in the end prove to have been nothing more than a bad case of intestinal gas. Because if it does not come to pass and the Democrats maintain their strangle hold on Congress, the future does not look good. In order to increase our odds of success, Americans are going to need to be willing to spend the requisite time to sift through all of the garbage headed their way and be determined in their searching out of the truth. They must learn to never take anything at face value unless they can personally verify it as being fact. Distractions will be a plenty, but people must be able to recognize them for what they are. As attempts to deceive. If people are willing to do that, then we might just stand a chance. So, here's to hoping enough people come to their senses at least long enough to make the "Right" choice when it comes to them casting their vote. And if they do, then and only then, we can party like it was 1994!
