Is it just me or does it seem like ever since Trump
first declared his candidacy back in June of last year, there has been a
growing chorus over at Fox News, except for maybe Hannity, constantly working
to get their subtle little jabs in against ‘The Donald.’ Jabs, by the way, that have become, over
time, much less subtle and far more vocal with Trump’s remaining at the top of
the polls. Some, of course, have been
far more vocal than others.
So you have to wonder if it didn’t hurt more than
just a little bit when last night, promptly at 8 p.m. ET, and immediately after
the last of the precincts in New Hampshire closed for voting for the state’s
presidential primaries, that Fox News called the race for Republican
presidential hopeful Donald Trump. And
I’m pretty sure the one who took making that call the hardest was none other
than Michael Moore loving, Fox News host, Megyn Kelly.
It was “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier, alongside
“The Kelly File” host Ms. Kelly, who made the announcement with only 4 percent
of the returns in and declared Trump had “regained his front-runner
status.” Baier and Kelly’s panel
consisting of network regulars Brit Hume, Kirsten Powers and Steve Hayes all
weighed in on Trump’s victory. None of
whom have ever come across as being Trump supporters, with Powers, of course,
being a Democrat.
It was Hume who said, “The federations of the fed-up
appears to have carried the day in the Republican Party at least and may indeed
do the same in the Democratic Party, which gives you an idea of the atmosphere
of our nation’s political system because the voters that were Trump are voters
that we have consistently seen in polling and this exit polling tonight are
people who have had it with the standard politicians.” And on that Mr. Hume is correct.
But then, in what I’m not sure was an attempt to
play down Trump’s victory, or what, Hume said. “How far this will carry forward
in the upcoming states is anybody’s guess. But that’s where we are and this
establishes it as anything we’ve ever seen.”
I mean, there has been an ongoing feud between the candidate and Fox for
some time with, like I said, the only one, at least appearing, to be impartial
and hot openly hostile, being Sean Hannity.
But you just have to know that the one who took
having to announce Trump as being the winner of the night in New Hampshire, on
the Republican side, was Kelly. It seems
that she has been on a mission against Trump since day one of his campaign. So much for being an objective and impartial
journalist. Over the course of the last
few months, as her ego has continued to increase in size, I’ve become much less
a fan of Ms. Kelly.
I guess what finally pushed me over the edge and
made it to where I tend to watch her show far less often than I once did was
the rather gut-wrenching lovefest that took place between her and Michael
Moore. I could only bring myself to
watch a small portion of it as her giggling like a little school girl got
pretty hard to take. And if I recall
correctly, I didn’t return to watch the rest of her show. I still tune in every now and again, just not
very often.
