TED CRUZ, WILL ONE AW SHIT WIPE OUT A THOUSAND ATTA BOYS???

You know, it wasn’t all that long ago, 2016 to be exact, that I considered myself to be a pretty enthusiastic supporter of Ted Cruz right up until he bowed out of the 2016 presidential contest, and I fell in line behind Donald Trump. I even voted for Cruz in my state’s presidential primary that year. But it has been since then that I have become much less infatuated with him and much less eager to offer him my support. And with his recent comments regarding the events of January 6, I’ve become even more conflicted regarding my feelings toward Mr. Cruz. And his recent sophomoric attempt to walk back those remarks have done nothing to change my mind.

Let’s be honest, once you say something like that, there’s no credible way to take it back. And it’s sad, really, because those of us who love this country and want so desperately to save it for our children already have precious few reliable allies in public office to the point where we cannot afford to lose even one. And yet, it would appear that once again I’ve been made to regret supporting a politician and made to look like a fool for ever having believed him and, worse, having voted for him. You do not call something a “violent terrorist attack” by mistake. It may have been unruly, but it wasn’t violent, it wasn’t terrorists, and it wasn’t an attack.

Throughout the day on Thursday of this week Ted Cruz had been the target of backlash, and rightfully so, for the idiotic comments he had made during a Senate Rules Committee hearing about the security lapses believed to have occurred at the U.S. Capitol that led to the riot on January 6, 2021. Cruz had described the event as being a “violent terrorist attack.” He said, “We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week. And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol."

And it was during an appearance on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Thursday, that Cruz answered for those comments, referring to them as being “sloppy” and “dumb.” It was Tucker who started things off by saying, “Senator, thanks so much for coming on.” And Tucker went on to say, “There are a lot of dumb people in the Congress. You are not one of them. I think you’re smarter than I am. And you never use words carelessly. And yet you called this a terror attack when by no definition was it a terror attack. That’s a lie. You told that lie on purpose, and I’m wondering why you did.” Cruz replied, “Well, Tucker, thank you for having me on."

Cruz went on to say, “When you aired your episode last night, I sent you a text shortly thereafter and said listen, I would like to go on because the way I phrased things yesterday, it was sloppy, and it was frankly dumb.” Carlson interrupted him saying, “I don’t buy that.” And then said, “I’ve known you a long time since before you went to Senate. You were a Supreme Court contender. You take words as seriously as any man who has ever served in the Senate. And every word you repeated that phrase, I do not believe you that used that accidentally. I just don’t.” Cruz repeatedly claimed his comments were nothing more than “a poor choice of words."

However, Carlson continued to press saying he did not believe Cruz. Look, I think it’s most folks, regardless of political persuasion, who view Cruz as being a pretty smart guy. And as such I have no doubt that he chooses his words very, very carefully. So his attempt here to somehow claim that he used “a poor choice of words” rings more than just a little hollow. Tucker said, “I guess I just don’t believe you.” And he then went on to say, “And I mean that with respect because I have such respect for your acuity and your precision.” And neither do the rest of us believe him. You can’t make such statements and expect things to just return as they once were.

If we weren’t living in such dangerous times perhaps Cruz’s attempt to play both sides of the fence wouldn’t be nearly as worrisome, or dangerous, as it is now. Cruz was happy to jump in front of the parade on January 6 to demand election transparency when there was really nothing at stake. But I haven’t seen him, or any other politician, making election security and transparency an important part of their daily routine even though elections are one of the few checks and balances left to keep government honest now that our supposed ‘mainstream media’ has flipped to become little more than a propaganda arm for the rabid left and the Democrat Party.

Garland has indicated he’s still ramping up his roundup of political enemies. The social media platforms that currently act as the public square are quickly ramping up their ban on speech and debate and the Republican base. Public schools and higher education are pushing the terrorist meme. Large multinational corporations with no allegiance to the American citizenry are flooding Washington with money and influence and are largely supporting the enemy combatant theme of the current administration.  The fact Cruz was able to repeat it so flippantly without reservation until it impacted him personally is inexplicable, probably even disqualifying.

I’m thinking that Cruz was likely convinced that President Trump would be destroyed by the left and he would then be able to just step right in and run for president. But I think any chance that he may have once had for getting to the top job just went up in a healthy cloud of smoke. Cruz was simply attempting to undercut President Trump, but it appears that he, the ‘fake news’ media, the Democrats and the RINOs seem not to have learned anything. The harder they attack President Trump, the harder they are attacking those who support him, which only serves to bring his supporters closer to him. They cannot separate Trump voters from Trump.

And Cruz was lucky to recover from his stupid reaction at the convention in 2016 when he refused to support Donald Trump when he got the nomination. I’m not surprised he backed off his previous statement calling us terrorists. I think he sees now that his stupid attempt to curry favor with the Left by making such comments has pretty much guaranteed that no Republican voter will ever vote for him now. He’s likely now blown up any chance he had for the Republican nomination. Good thing too. The last thing we need is another phony-baloney who says he’ll represent our values, and then totally cave to the Democrats the moment he’s been safely elected.

FROM THIS POINT ON TED CRUZ IS DEAD TO ME…

Back when the 2016 presidential campaign season began I was pretty much of the same opinion as everyone else when it came to Donald Trump.  I thought he’d be around for a while and then fade away.  So I was very much in the camp of Ted Cruz.  To the point where when it came time for my state to hold its primary election I very proudly cast my vote for Mr. Cruz.  But as the campaign progressed, despite accusations of questionable campaign tactics, I remained a Cruz supporter albeit, perhaps, a less enthusiastic one.  And it was only after he announced the end of his bid to become our next president that I, feeling I had no other option, resigned myself to climbing onboard the ‘Trump Train’ where I have remained ever since.

So when I heard that Mr. Cruz was going to be speaking at the convention I had some pretty high hopes that he too had finally resigned himself to the fact that Mr. Trump is going to be the man to represent we Republicans come this November.  And I also had high hopes that he was going to be man enough to put the country above any personal ambitions, as well as any hurt feelings he might still possess as a result of a what we all agree was a very contentious and hard fought primary season.  My wife told me not to get my hopes up, and she said I was only going to be disappointed.  And, as is usually the case, she was right.  You’d think that after 31 years of being married to her that I’d know by now to trust her intuition.

I think we’re all familiar with the old adage that describes politics as being a nasty business.  So you would assume that anyone who chooses to involve themselves in such a ‘business’ would have a rather thick skin.  But when all was said and done at the end of Mr. Cruz’s convention speech, it was obvious to everyone watching that when it comes to Mr. Cruz, such is not the case.  However, when Mr. Cruz first began his speech I started to feel a bit more comfortable, even breathing a sigh of relief.  I remember thinking that he was actually going to come through for us, he was going to climb onboard the ‘Trump train’, however begrudgingly, and proceed to put both the party and the country above any petty differences he may have with Trump.

Mr. Cruz was greeted with rousing cheers as he began his 22-minute speech by congratulating Donald Trump on winning the nomination.  He then spoke about the shooting of Dallas police officer Michael Smith. The hall fell silent as Mr. Cruz told the story of Smith's young daughter who kissed her father goodbye for the very last time on the day that he died.  Things began to take a turn though when Mr. Cruz spoke of others who have "had their lives destroyed by evil."  And he then asked the question: "What if this, right now, is our last time -- our last moment to do something for our families and our country?  Did we live up to the values we say we believe? Did we do all we really could?”  It was at this point that I began to sense that things were coming off the tracks.

And then he went on to say, "We're fighting, not for one particular candidate or one campaign, but because each of us wants to be able to tell our kids and our grandkids that we did our best for their future and our country."  And that was when I think I knew where this speech was headed and how it was going to end, coming to the realization that it would not be how I had hoped.  There was that little voice in the back of my head telling me, no screaming at me, that Mr. Cruz wasn’t going to come through for the team, that he seemed to be more interested in serving up a little revenge, a little payback, and was, perhaps, even hoping to derail the ‘Trump train’ in an attempt to gain some level of satisfaction for himself.

The theme of Mr. Cruz's speech was "freedom," and the crowd loved it, interrupting him repeatedly with cheers and applause.  He said, "Our nation is exceptional because it was built it on the five most beautiful and powerful words in the English language -- I want to be free."  Mr. Cruz said Americans are "rightly furious" at a political establishment that ignores the will of the people. He said, "We have to do better -- we owe our fallen heroes more than that."  He also talked about the "profound difference" between the two parties' vision for the future.  "I am here to tell you there is a better vision for our future. A return to freedom."  At this point it wasn’t clear whether he was talking about Hitlery or Trump.

Mr. Cruz touched on all the right topics, mentioning free speech; religious freedom; the bill of rights guaranteeing everyone's freedom, regardless of sexual orientation; the right to keep and bear arms; the right to life; the requirement that Supreme Court justices to follow the Constitution; and the freedom for states to choose policies that reflect local values.  And he made the point that Hitlery believes government should make those choices for the people.  And it was at the end of his speech that Mr. Cruz described the November election as a fight for freedom.  He said, "We deserve leaders who stand for principle, who unite us all behind shared values, who cast aside anger for love. That is the standard we should expect for everybody.”

And then he said, "And to those listening. Please. Don't stay home in November.”  He said, "If you love our country and love your children as much as I know that you do -- stand and speak and vote your conscience -- vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution."  It was right about here that the crowd began to get a bit testy as many in the crowd responded with cries of "We want Trump!" and "Endorse Trump!"  To which Cruz responded, "I appreciate the enthusiasm of the New York delegation."  Which some likely perceived, and perhaps rightly so, as an attempt by Cruz to make it quite clear that he didn’t possess the same level of enthusiasm for the candidate.

He went on to say, "And I will tell you, it is love of freedom that has allowed millions to achieve their dreams."  He talked about his mother and father, but the restive crowd was no longer receptive.  Cruz said, "We must make the most of our moments -- to fight for freedom, to protect our God-given rights, even of those with whom we don't agree -- so that when we are old and gray and when our work is done, and we give those we love one final kiss goodbye, we will be able to say freedom matters, and I was part of something beautiful."  So does he mean that it’s only a Cruz candidacy that could have been seen as being that “something beautiful?”  I wonder.  Is he really that egotistical?

Cruz, speaking over the boos, continued saying, "The case we have to make to the American people...the case each person in this room has to make to the American people is to commit to each of them that we will defend freedom and be faithful to the Constitution. We will unite the party, we will unite the country by standing together for shared values, by standing for liberty."  His final God-bless-yous were essentially drowned by the boos as the video cut to a waving Trump behind the scenes.  Cruz accomplished little more than to make himself look very small.  And in the end he came out likely doing more damage to himself than to Trump. But I suppose we’ll see.

Personally, I think the bottom line in all of this is that anyone with a conscience will have little choice but to vote for Trump.  Because there is no magical alternative where if you do not vote for Trump it somehow keeps a pathological liar, treasonous criminal, anti-woman, anti-Black, Anti-Constitution greedy Hitlery Clinton from having control of America in order to finish the ‘fundamental transformation’ that was begun by Barry.  Frankly, I am absolutely terrified for my country, and the fact that there are so many people willing to trust she who is deserving of no one’s trust when it comes to being able to lead this country.  Say what you will about Trump, but on his worst day he would still be better the Hitlery.

And now comes word that Cruz is actually quite busy trying to do some fundraising off his much ballyhooed decision not to endorse Donald Trump for president during his speech last night at the convention which was supposedly in retaliation for Trump insulting his wife and father during the campaign.  But in looking back who was it, exactly that fired the first shot in that skirmish?  Wasn’t that Cruz’s PAC when they decided to go after Mr. Trump’s wife?  So now, despite negative backlash from Chris Christie, Roger Stone, and many others, Cruz now trying to raise money off the controversy?  Cruz blasted out an email asking for people to chip in between $5 and $50 to his 2018 Senate campaign.

Referring to his convention speech, Cruz wrote: “It was an honor to speak to the delegates at the Republican National Convention.  As our cause goes forward, I want to remind you about the stakes.  Americans are furious—rightly so—at a political establishment that cynically breaks its promises and ignores the will of the people.  But there is a better vision for our future: a return to freedom.  If we choose freedom, our future will be brighter.”  So you tell me, what might be the real reason behind his decision not to endorse Trump?  Was it truly because of some insult suffered by his wife and father, or was there maybe something more sinister, such as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the Trump campaign?

And so it was then that for the sake of revenge, the basis for a little fundraising scheme or nothing more than a little payback directed at Trump that has caused Ted Cruz to, quite possibly, have placed my daughter’s future very much at risk.  I’m not some rich senator, I’m just a working stiff who was hoping we could all come together long enough to prevent Hitlery from again setting foot in the White House.  But nope, he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.  So despite his pledge to support our nominee and all his claims about how much he cares about our country, when you get right down to it all he REALLY cares about is himself.  How sad, how truly sad that I could have been fooled into voting for him.  Never again!

CRUZ PROMISES A KINDER AND GENTLER CAMPAIGN AGAINST HITLERY…

Let me start off here by saying that I did vote for Ted Cruz in my state’s primary.  But I must say that as the campaign has progressed I’ve second thoughts and questioning my decision to do so.  First, because I find myself in agreement with Mike Huckabee in that I wish Cruz, and K-Sick for that matter, were as determined in their effort to go after Hitlery as they seem to be in going after Trump.  Secondly it was his answer at yesterday’s Fox news’ “America’s Town Hall” with Ted Cruz to a Hitlery supporter in attendance who asked what his plan was to run against her.

Cruz answered the question by saying that he would not get “personal and nasty” with Hitlery, but rather focus on “substance and the issues.”  He said, “I can’t wait to stand on a debate stage with Hillary Clinton.”  He went on to say, “Because my campaign against her is going to be the same as my campaign has been on the primary – it’s going to be based on substance and the issues.”  Now I guess my question regarding Cruz’s strategy would be, does he really think that Hitlery plans on sticking to the issues?  And if he does, is he really someone we want running for president?

He continued by saying, “In this primary when others have gotten personal and nasty, I haven’t responded in kind. I’m not gonna do that with Hillary either, and instead I’m going to focus on substance.”  Personally I think Cruz is being a bit disingenuous when he claims not to have responded in kind.  And if this is truly how he plans to run against Hitlery, then I thinks he’s already lost and therefore has no business continuing his campaign.  If he is to have any hope of taking the bitch out, then he’s going to be required to get his hands a little dirty.

In all seriousness, what Cruz is basically telling us is that he's going to be running a campaign that has its origin in exactly the same wimpy playbook that we saw utilized when Dole ran for president in 1996, when McCain ran in 2008 and again when Romney ran in 2012.  In other words, a campaign that is run on what is nothing more than a losing strategy.  Romney vowed to stay on the "issues", too.  In other words, to let Barry's various, and quite numerous, illegalities go unchallenged while standing there letting Barry accuse him of causing cancer patients to die.

It’s become rather frustrating at how Republicans tend to leave no earth unscorched when it comes to challengers and then turn around and roll over for the Democrats. It's as almost as if they don't mind losing if they come in a lucrative second.  Trump will go after Hillary with hammer and tongs.  She is a murderess who lied to the families of four dead men in their coffins. She sold out the U.S. with her greed and lies. She is a combination of Lucretia Borgia, Eva Peron and Mata Hari all in one fat, orange package.  And yet Cruz’s plan seem to be to give Hiterly a pass.

This next election will be, without a doubt, the last opportunity provided to the American people to salvage what’s left of their country.  Cruz needs to, at least, appear to have the same sense of urgency that at least a majority of Republicans now have regarding their future.  And I’ll be honest with you, I’d much rather go down swinging with Trump, than I would being bent over with my cheeks spread with Cruz.  And I’m beginning to sense that if Cruz does get the nomination, he’ll simply take us down that same well-traveled road that past Republican candidates have taken us.

SPEAKING OF TED CRUZ…

You know, putting that all important decorum of the U.S. Senate aside, sometimes you just gotta call ‘em like you see ‘em.  And such was the case where we all saw conservative Senator Ted Cruz was recently left with no alternative but to call out RINO Mitch McConnell.  I would like to think that it was very few of us who reside out here beyond the beltway who saw anything wrong with what Cruz said.  McConnell is useless, as is his counterpart over the House, John ‘Boner’.  Neither one of these guys are the kind of ‘leader’ that we need in what has now become, or has been made into, such a critical time in our history.

And Cruz proceeded to double down on his criticism of McConnell this past Sunday after senior RINO senators criticized him for calling McConnell a liar on Friday.  The anger at Cruz came after he called McConnell a liar on Friday for allowing a vote on an amendment to a highway funding bill that would re-charter the U.S. Export-Import Bank.  Cruz complained, and rightfully so, that McConnell, who also opposes the Ex-Im Bank, had promised him and other Republicans that there would be no deal to allow the Ex-Im amendment.  It was during a floor speech on Friday that Cruz said, "I cannot believe he would tell a flat-out lie."

Later the same day, Cruz made an appearance on Rush Limbaugh's syndicated radio show, where he said, "Back when we were having the fight over trade promotion authority, I asked Mitch McConnell directly if he had cut a deal to reauthorize this cronyism and corporate welfare in order to try to get the votes, and he looked at me, he looked at all 54 Republican senators, and he said flat-out, 'There is no deal. There is no deal. There is no deal.'"  McConnell is no better than ‘Dingy Harry’ Reid, you can’t believe a single thing he says.  And in some ways he’s even worse than Reid, because you expect such sleazy behavior from someone like him.

It was in his Senate floor speech that Cruz compared McConnell's repeating of the phrase to the Apostle Peter, who three times denied Christ.  And it was shortly thereafter that we heard from three of the more prominent RINOs, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and John Cornyn of Texas when they all took to the floor during a rare Sunday session to denounce Cruz before then advancing the Ex-Im amendment on a 67-26 vote.  The credibility of these three turncoats borders on being nonexistent.  Far from being part of the solution, they are three of the primary players involved in making sure the status quo is maintained.

In fact it was RINO Hatch who said, "Regrettably, in recent times, the Senate floor has too often become a forum for partisan messaging."  And he went on to say, "Squabbling and sanctimony may be tolerated in other venues and perhaps on the campaign trail, but they have no place among colleagues in the United States Senate.”  So I’m guessing that the outright dishonesty of McConnell is behavior that seen as being acceptable as well as far more appropriate for the Senate floor than is the honestly that we saw, and heard, coming from Sen. Cruz.  Well, no real surprise there, I suppose.  Which is to be expected.

Hatch added, "The Senate floor has even become a place where senators have singled out colleagues by name to attack them … and impugn their character in blatant disregard for Senate rules."  He said, "Such misuses of the Senate floor must not be tolerated."  Adding finally, "It has been used as a tool to advance personal ambitions, a venue to promote political campaigns, and even a vehicle to enhance fundraising efforts, all at the expense of the proper functioning of this body."  If anyone can be said to be guilty of misusing the Senate floor, I’d say that would be Mitch McConnell and his cadre of RINOs ever since this Congress came into session.

Cruz responded moments later, saying he agreed with Hatch's call for civility and decorum. But, he said, "speaking the truth about actions is entirely consistent with civility."  Cruz argued "it is entirely consistent with decorum and with the nature of this body traditionally as the world's greatest deliberative body, to speak the truth."  He said, "On Friday I gave an unusual speech, a speech unlike any I have given in this chamber. It was not a speech I was happy to give."  He added, "I described an explicit promise the majority leader had made to me and to all 53 Republican senators."  But you see, McConnell and the RINOs see themselves about having to tell the truth.

When asked whether he had gone too far in Friday's speech, Cruz said he had not, and accused the press of not focusing on the main issue: whether McConnell lied.  He said, "I would note that on the discussion of my speech on Friday, there have been no stories written about whether in fact of Mitch McConnell told the truth," Cruz said. RINO John Cornyn, the second-ranking Senate Republican, said Cruz was "mistaken" in contending that McConnell had misrepresented plans regarding the Ex-Im Bank to other Republicans.  Cornyn added that if McConnell had, "I suspect you would find other voices joining that of the junior senator." These RINOs are as thick as thieves.

In opening the Sunday session, McConnell said that "when there is overwhelming bipartisan support for an idea, even if I oppose it, it doesn't require some 'special deal' to see a vote occur on that measure."  He went on to say, "This is the United States Senate, after all, where we debate and vote on all kinds of different issues."  What a sanctimonious blowhard this guy is.  He has absolutely no business being in a position of leadership.  Especially during such times as we now find ourselves, as a country simply trying to survive.  Times that McConnell, himself, played a considerable role in bringing about and is quite content to have continue.

Also on Sunday, senators refused to support a maneuver by Cruz to skirt a procedural rule blocking an Iran-related amendment he sought to add to the highway bill. The measure would have blocked sanctions relief to Iran until the Islamic Republic recognized Israel's right to exist and freed four Americans who are missing or being held there.  That these supposed adults whom we have chosen to elect to such high office could behave so childishly says much more about them than anything they could ever say about Cruz.  Promises were made by a great number of people during the run up to the 2014 election, and McConnell was far from being the only liar.

Look, I think we can all safely agree that McConnell has been nothing short of a huge disappointment as well as an unmitigated disaster.  He has squandered what was very clearly the mandate that was handed to him last November.  He is a liar, there is simply no other word that adequately describes him.  If you doubt what I say simply look back over some of his campaign ads and campaign speeches from last year.  If you didn’t know better you’d swear one of these guys is an imposter, either the guy making the speeches or the guy in the Senate today.  Because they can’t both be the same guy.  And yet, sadly, they are.

TED CRUZ, WORLD’S THIRD MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON…

It seems like only yesterday that we were hearing what was a near endless steam of critics, from both sides of the aisle, as they condemned, even ridiculed as being nothing more than a complete waste of time, Sen. Ted Cruz’s 21 hour filibuster against the debacle that we have all come to know as Obamacare. Funny thing, though, but because of a rollout that was nothing short a disaster, and the fact that millions of Americans have already lost their healthcare coverage, that they had been promised they would be able to keep, period, I think it can now be said that Sen. Cruz has been more than vindicated.

And I think what can also be said to be proof that Cruz has been vindicated, is the fact that, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, the Texas Republican was considered to be the world's third-most influential person of 2013, falling behind only Pope Francis and the creator of Obamacare, Barry "Almighty." Eleven percent of the 1,000 adults polled on Dec. 11-12 picked Cruz as the most influential person, Rasmussen announced on Sunday. Cruz was also a runner up in Time Magazine’s annual "Person of the Year" selection last week, with Time selecting the pope for the top honor.

In the Rasmussen survey, 23 percent of those surveyed picked the pope as the most influential, followed by 21 percent choosing Barry. Cruz, one of the most prominent politicians aligned with the tea party movement, was followed on the list by National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, who was seen as most influential by eight percent of those surveyed. The survey also went across party lines. Among Republicans, Cruz was second behind the pope, with 19 percent calling the freshman senator and Tea Party leader the world’s most influential leader.

Summing up the rest of the list, four percent of those taking part in the poll, picked Russian President Vladimir Putin as being most-influential, followed by three percent who actually picked House Speaker John Boehner and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Two dramatically opposite women, singer Miley Cyrus and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton each gathered two percent of the vote. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai each scored one percent.

According to Rasmussen, many Americans, especially those of Catholic faith, believe Pope Francis has improved people's perceptions of the church. However, Barry's approval ratings are at a record low following this fall's botched Obamacare rollout. The poll also showed that a divide exists between the sexes. Women were more likely to pick the pope as most influential, while men were twice as likely to pick Cruz. And, oddly enough, people over 65 felt more strongly that the pope and Barry are the most influential. I can understand them picking the pope, but not Barry.

I think it safe to say that most establishment Republicans, as well as just about every single Democrat, would like us all to believe that Cruz is really nothing more than a kook with a huge ego, and is a guy who resides out there on the rightwing fringe. But try as they might, it would seem that the only ones that they have been able to convince of this, are themselves. I think a great many people, myself included, see Cruz as being a straight shooter. Now I must confess that, while I do not agree with everything that he says or does, I still view him as providing a positive influence in Congress.

TED CRUZ IN 2016…

Well lookee what we have here! It would seem that fresh off his 21-hour filibuster against Obamacare funding, we have a new poll that shows Sen. Ted Cruz has now leapfrogged past his potential rivals for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and that GOP primary voters trust now him more than their party leaders on Capitol Hill. The Public Policy Polling survey found that 20 percent of those surveyed supported Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican, while 17 percent supposed Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, with two RINOS, Chris Christies and Jeb Bush coming in at 14 percent 11 percent respectively.

"Ted Cruz this week established himself as the grassroots hero of the Republican party," said Dean Debnam, president of PPP. "The party has more faith in him than their more official leaders like Mitch McConnell and John Boehner." Mr. Cruz has climbed eight percentage points in the poll since July - thanks in large part to strong support from people who identified themselves as "very conservative" and who support a government shutdown by a 75 percent to 10 percent margin. Speaking for myself, I am a big fan. And I really want to believe that he is, in fact, the real deal.

And I’m sure this is something that comes as no surprise, the poll also found that Mr. Cruz is now more trusted then Mr. McConnell, the Senate minority leader, Mr. Boehner, the speaker of the House, and even Sen. John ‘The Maverick" McCain, our party’s loser of a 2008 presidential nominee. "Our numbers also suggest that Cruz is now viewed more broadly as the leader of the Republican Party," the poll analysis said. "He now has more credibility with the GOP base than the folks who have been leading the party for years." Well, that because those folks have essentially been lying to us for years!

And rumor has it that The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is very pleased with the notion of Mr. Cruz becoming the face of the Republican Party. Although I think they may be a little premature if already planning a campaign strategy that would undoubtedly be centered around their desire to portray him as being some right wing ideologue. The one thing I like about Cruz is that I doubt very seriously if we’d see him backing down, or shying away from a fight. And in maybe I’m getting a little premature myself, but if Cruz does end up being our man, the scum-sucking Democrats better be ready to bring their A-team.

Like I said, the only thing that worries me is the thought that he isn’t what he seems to be. Although up to this point, I must admit, he has been pretty consistent. And I don’t think for a minute that he is some sort of publicity whore, as he has been accused of being by folks on both sides of the aisle. Accusations that I think have their source in what is nothing more than pure jealously. Cruz connects with people in a way most other politicians only wish they could. He’s perceived as being honest and as someone who you can actually trust. Both are qualities rare for a politician. He means what he says, and says what he means.

TED CRUZ THROWS THE 'BULL SHIT' FLAG…

Well it would seem that as recently as this past Tuesday, my favorite senator, that pesky fella, Ted Cruz, was said to be at it yet again. That he was once again doing his best to earn the ire of so many in Congress on both sides of the political aisle. And just what was it that he was up to this time? It was all because of how Sen. Cruz chose to go about distilling the current debate over possible military action in Syria to its essential dilemma.

Now while I think that we can all agree on the fact that Syrian President Bashar Assad is certainly a pretty nasty guy, Sen. Cruz only sought to point out that the forces aligned against him are, at best, a rather mixed bag that can be said to be dominated by jihadis and elements of various other terrorist organizations. Cruz noted that Americans didn't enlist in the military to "serve as Al-Qaeda's Air Force." And I would agree with his assessment.

"We certainly don’t have a dog in the fight," Cruz said, calling it a civil war in Syria. "We should be focused on defending the United States of America. That’s why young men and women sign up to join the military, not to, as you know, serve as Al Qaeda’s air force." It should be obvious to all what's going on in Syria, and that which Barry is trying to insert us, poses no direct threat to this country, and as such there is no need for us to get involved.

Cruz noted that of the nine major rebel groups, seven have ties to Al-Qaeda. Cruz's colleagues, RINOs "Maverick" McCain and "Prissy Boy" Graham are pushing Barry and his boys to arm rebel forces with heavy weapons. It is unclear how the U.S. would ensure that its weapons would go exclusively to the "right" rebel forces. Even if they were, it's likely that any post-Assad regime would be dominated by elements loyal to Al-Qaeda.

"I’ll give you one of the simplest principles of foreign policy that we ought to be following," Cruz said. "Don’t give weapons to people who hate you. Don’t give weapons to people who want to kill you." That sounds like some rather sound logic to me. But sometimes I wonder if it's not some of these same folks that are the ones that Barry seems to be the most determined to assist. It's pretty obvious that he hates Israel.

Anyway, the good senator from Texas was really doing nothing more than what I would expect most congressional Republicans to be doing right about now. And that of course would be to stand with the roughly 60 percent of the American who remain very much opposed to Barry's proposal of lobbing in a few cruise missiles for, what would appear to be, no good reason other than so that he can make himself look good.

Democrat presidents always make the worst commanders-in-chief. They have possess absolutely no respect for those who serve, and therefore are not least bit hesitant about throwing them into harms way for their own self-gratification. Barry, like 'Slick Willie' and 'Bone Head' Carter before him, get off on being the commander-in-chief, even though they possess no real aptitude for the position. They treat our service people like toy soldiers.

Or as in the case of 'Slick Willie," as pawns to be used in the most distasteful manner, as a way of distracting the public away from his juvenile sexcapades in the Oval Office that involved a 'blue dress.' Who's to say that Barry isn't using them in the same manner now, to divert attention away from the many scandals that this most corrupt of presidents has now gotten himself involved in. And I don't doubt for a second that he would, at least attempt, to do something just like that.
