CAN WE PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT THE DAMN GORILLA???

While I suppose some will argue that I’m guilty of perpetuating that which I am now going to complain about, I know of no other way to, at least, try to make my point. You see, over the course of the last 3 days it would seem that the only thing those involved in our state-controlled ‘news’ media have seen fit to want to talk about is this unexpected death of a poor unfortunate gorilla.  I guess it beats talking about any of Hitlery Clinton’s continuing problems or, for that matter, the rapidly escalating black body count taking place there in the ‘Windy City.’

And it was in referring to that growing body county that Newsbusters recently reported that 69 citizens were shot across Rahm Emanuel's Chicago over the 72 hour period that constituted our Memorial Day weekend.  But apparently none of our broadcast networks thought that sufficiently newsworthy to bother reporting on.  Instead what was seen as being far more important, enough for them to focus in on like a laser on it, was the death of Harambe, the Cincinnati Zoo gorilla who manhandled -- animal-handled? -- a toddler who fell into the gorilla habitat.

Harambe was shot on Saturday by the Zoo's Dangerous Animal Response Team (DART) after it was determined that it was the only way to guarantee the boy's safety. What has since followed is what has been nothing short of a perfect storm of social media outrage and news media obsession about the regrettable, but necessary, killing.  Things have now gotten so out of hand that the parents have even begun getting death threats.  Look, I’ve never been a big proponent of keeping wild animals locked up in cages, but Im not naïve enough to think that our zoos will be going away anytime soon.

But it getting back to this obsession by our less than stellar state-controlled media, it was noted by Newsbusters how it was that ABC, CBS and NBC spent 54 times more time, or a total of 55 minutes and 7 seconds, on coverage of the Harambe incident (which sounds like something that you might find Jason Bourne embroiled in) than they did on the Chicago shootings, which was 1 minute, 1 second of reportage, which also included multiple deaths.  So congratulations to our news media for keeping us all informed about those things that are truly important!

Here are but a few examples:

ABC anchor Amy Robach announced the “zoo horror” during Good Morning America on Monday while NBC fill-in anchor Thomas Roberts focused on the “fast and furious reactions” to the gorilla’s death during Nightly News that same day.

CBS correspondent Jamie Yuccas described PETA’s statement “saying the gorilla enclosure should have been surrounded by a secondary barrier” and the uproar by animal activists during Weekend News on Sunday.  Anchor Elaine Quijano concluded that segment by commenting on the “terrifying images.”

ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS’ Weekend News split the one minute of coverage about the “weekend of gun violence”; NBC didn't cover it at all.

So I have to ask, isn’t it time to move on to those things that are far more important? The bottom line here is that this gorilla could have easily killed the boy with one swat.  And let’s be honest, if it was Barry’s kid who had fallen into such a pit and ended up face-to-face with the gorilla, you can be sure that old Harambe would have been dead before he ever hit the ground. I remember the mother with her kid in the backseat who was racing to breach the White House gates with her car back in 2013. They shot her dead. It was swept under the rug and never spoken of again.

Reporting on the number of deaths perpetrated by thugs in the hood is, I suppose, akin to reporting on the fact that the sky is blue.  Liberals care more about animals more than they do people. Why is there no outcry nor as much concern about all the number of black youths that are killed or wounded every single day in Chicago?  Easy, neither those in power, nor in the state-controlled media really care about parasitic, useless and disposable brown skinned denizens in Chicago killing each other in record numbers. Unless of course there's some political capital to be gained.

Even the White House, who I’m sure, would rather talk about anything other than this fiasco of a presidency, ventured into the gorilla territory with spokesmoron Josh Earnest calling the killing of a gorilla a “tragedy.” While speaking from Air Force One on Wednesday, Earnest said, “There have been people across the country that have their own personal opinion about what may have contributed to what can legitimately be described as a tragedy.”  Earnest added that he was not aware of “any official position that I can articulate from the White House.”

It is after all, as Barry “Almighty” likes to put it, "The new Normal".  It's fair to say that in a week or two from now most of the ‘Windy-City's’ recently murdered will cease to be cared about, much less even thought of, except for friends and family.  However, that rare Gorilla is missed and will continue to be missed because it was truly innocent victim that, apparently, had a purpose. It's topsy-turvy that an animal should have more clout than a human, but, as they say, ‘dems da breaks’.  So let’s just continue to elect Democrats, as we continue to embrace the suck.
