ESPN – THE “EXCEPTIONALLY STUPID PEOPLE NETWORK”…

I never watch this particular network unless, of course, I happen to be out to dinner at some establishment that likes to refer to itself as being a “sports bar.”  And it’s on those rare occasions that I use it to entertain myself by watching the missing-links in attendance as they sit around the bar or the many tables with their eyes glued to the TV waiting with baited breath for that next bit of truly important sports information.  And I swear, as look around the room very few brain-cells seem to be present. 

I mean seriously, no matter what you happen to be watching on this idiotic network it’s more often than what’s there on the television screen some knuckle-dragging Neanderthal in a suit that doesn’t seem to quite fit, doing his best to sound intelligent while making what is essentially a kids game sound complicated.  And sitting next to is some moron whose only claim to fame is that he’s a ‘sportscaster’.  Wow, now there’s a job that requires a rather impressive amount of brain power.  NOT!

The only reason I even bother to bring any of this up is because this past Friday, on Washington, D.C.’s ESPN 980’s “The Tony Kornheiser Show,” the show’s host, Tony Kornheiser, in speaking with Huffington Post editor and supposed political ‘journalist’ Howard Fineman, felt compelled to spout off about something which he very obviously knows absolutely nothing about, that being Tea Party people.  The topic of the conversation was Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)and the Speaker of the House position. 

I would assume that the format for such a program would at least be semi-related to sports.  So to veer off into leftist politics would typically seem a little unexpected.  But many of these characters on ESPN today seem to feel the need to interject politics into their conversations.  But more often than not all they end up doing is to prove just how stupid they really are.  And Fineman is another guy not known for being particularly bright and he does nothing more than to spew DNC talking points.

And it was the less than brilliant Mr. Fineman who said that as Speaker, Ryan would be “spending all his time” dealing with “Tea Party people” and that he would have to “fight them and defeat them” or “take away their power.” And then it was the genius Kornheiser who wanted to know if those Tea Party people were like ISIS, trying to “establish a Caliphate.”  Is this guy not a complete moron?  Apparently he’s trying to be more like that other leftwing loser, Keith Olbermann.

The dialogue between these two morons went as follows:

FINEMAN: The House needs a dictatorial leader, or nothing will ever happen. And the Tea Party people understandably don’t like that. If the person in charge is a moderate that doesn’t agree with them politically.

So, Paul Ryan has the kind of conservative chops, where, he can sort of try to unify the whole party. But, he’s going to be spending all his time trying to deal with these Tea Party people.

What he’s probably going to have to do, if in fact he gets in. Is stage some kind of fight with them and defeat them, or take away their power, and go after them. I don’t know if he’s got the guts to do that. I don’t know if he’s got the numbers to do it.

KORNHEISER: Are they like ISIS trying to establish a caliphate here?!

FINEMAN: Yes! Yes! That’s a very good analogy! Without the violence obviously, but yes, they are a rejectionist front. They don’t want to legislate.

You know, if jerkoffs like this Kornheiser guy want to ramble on about stupid sports bullshit, that’s fine, after all this is America.  But what the Hell does this stupid sonofabitch know about Tea Party people?  Obviously nothing more than what he hears from that rather odd assortment of freaks and imbeciles over on MSNBC or CNN.  Typically I wouldn’t waste my time commenting on anything a clown like Kornheiser might say, but this latest comment of his kinda struck a nerve with me.

Quite frankly, I’ve got an extremely low tolerance for stupidity.  And as far as I’m concerned sports announcers and thuggish athletes are about as stupid as they come.  Let’s face it, you could train a monkey to do what Kornheiser does.  And most of today’s athletes had they not been blessed with God given ability would be standing on a corner holding a sign.  And instead of being role models they choose to spend their exorbitant salaries on drugs, strip clubs and numerous very fancy cars.   

EVEN OBAMA SEEMS TO AGREE WITH THE NOTION OF A BIASED MEDIA…

It would seem that those of us who claim that there exists, today, a very obvious bias in our state-controlled media that clearly favors the left in this country, and who have always been told it’s just our imagination, may have finally achieved some level of vindication.  And imagine my surprise when it was brought to my attention that that apparent vindication was to come from none other than Barry ‘O’ himself.  Frankly, I would never have thought it possible to hear such an acknowledgement.  

And so it was then, that just a little over a week ago we had Barry experiencing something that I’m not quite sure was simply an innocent slip of the tongue, one of those rare candid moments where he inadvertently says something that is factually correct, or nothing more than a bit of typical sarcasm.  But whatever it was, it was on his recent trip to Boise State that Barry revealed to those in attendance that it is his belief that the television media in the United States is dominated by liberals.

Barry said, as was recorded by C-SPAN and also officially transcribed by the White House, “I mean, we have an entire industry that’s designed to sort us out.” And then he went on to say, “Our media is all segmented now so that instead of just watching three stations, we got 600. And everything is market-segmented, and you got the conservative station and the liberal stations. So everybody is only listening to what they already agree with.”  Personally, I watch those who I feel are telling the truth.

What Barry didn’t say was whether or not there were any unbiased stations.  And while he may consider Fox News as being his arch nemesis, and for no other reason than because it chooses to present both sides of an issue or argument, doing so does not mean they are biased to the right.  I think what really ticks him off is that without Fox News, he would likely be getting away with so much more under what would be the less than watchful eye of an essentially disinterested state-controlled media.

It was Barry, himself who once said in an interview with The New Republic, “One of the biggest factors is going to be how the media shapes debates.”  He went on to say, “If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News or by Rush Limbaugh for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it.”  He ignores the fact that anytime Democrats actually do compromise with Republicans they’re accused of kowtowing by the left’s media nuts!

So I would say that, if anything, what we have in this country today is a media that has so obviously lost its way.  Because, instead of acting as the watchdog of the government, which was to be its original role, backed up by a constitutional amendment, the modern day state-controlled media has morphed into something that bears little resemblance to that watchdog, appearing more as an entity whose purpose is to brutally attack anyone who dares to challenge the progressive agenda.

WHAT, THE MEDIA IS BIASED???

I’m not sure whether he actually thought he was telling us all something that we didn’t already know, or what, but it seems that Joe Scarborough has finally come to what can only be described as being, a rather startling realization. I guess he’s finally come to the conclusion that our ‘mainstream’ media in this country is more than a little biased when it comes to reporting stories about Republicans. Really Joe, you’re just figuring this out now? Somebody really needs to tell this guy that it has been going on for some time now. And it’s his buddies over there at MSNBC who are some of the absolute worst perpetrators.

Apparently what was finally the straw that broke the camel’s back for old Jo is the continuing investigation of the Internal Revenue Service. As we all know, or should, Congress is currently investigating, or trying to, IRS targeting of conservative groups seeking nonprofit status. John Koskinen, the agency's new commissioner, testified, if you wish to call it that, on Capitol Hill just yesterday. Joe accused The New York Times of not wanting to make headlines regarding the IRS story, choosing instead to make its front page story, questions about Chris Christie and the Pulaski Skyway bridge, while the IRS story was published deep inside the paper.

Joe said, "This is unbelievable. We could talk about The New York Post, as well. It is impossible that The Washington Post and The New York Times are not putting on the front page of their newspapers the fact that an internal investigation has been launched by the IRS on the most shady behavior." Joe went on to say, "And yet, they put Pulaski Sky bridge, whatever, on A-1? Whatever. This is garbage." But I’m rather curious about this supposed outrage of Joe’s. This bias thing has been going for years, why is only now that he finds it so offensive. And I would argue that Joe, himself, has been a purveyor of this bias.

It was during a very contentious hearing Monday on Capitol Hill, that Koskinen did his best to provide non-answers to the questions he was asked regarding ‘lost’ emails of former agency official Lois Lerner. Joe claimed, and rightly so, that those in the media would demand answers if it was a Republican administration that was under scrutiny here. He said Koskinen exhibited "arrogance" when explaining to Congress why the agency lost the emails. Joe said, "For the IRS to have a commissioner go on Capitol Hill and show that kind of arrogance, like, 'How dare you audit us,' is basically what he is saying."

Joe asked, "What if Republicans said that? What if we said that? Come on, guys. Who in the world would do that in the [former President George W.] Bush administration?" He went on to say, "That's not the way it operates. When Republicans do this, we get those answers. You know why we get those answers? Because The New York Times goes after it every day. USA Today goes after it every day. The Washington Post goes after it every day. The Boston Globe. NBC News goes after it every day. CBS News goes after it every day." But I think we all know it’s a different story when the culprits are members of the left.
