RON DESANTIS…HE COULD’VE BEEN A CONTENDER…

Never, and I do mean never, have I experienced a level of frustration regarding a politician than the level of frustration I have now experienced at the hands of my governor, Ron DeSantis. It came about when President Trump declared that he did in fact intend to run in 2024. And DeSantis was then my first choice to be his running mate completing what I then felt was our political dream team. The team that would win and put DeSantis in the position of being able to take the baton in 2028 and with luck would go on to win re-election in 2032. But it all came unraveled on the way to the 2024 election when DeSantis allowed his ego to get the better of him.

But whether it was ego or perhaps because of some outside influence coming from those dead set against another Trump presidency, DeSantis broke his promise to the voters in Florida, one made when asking them to re-elect him as their governor, and he also broke his promise of not running for president if President Trump did. So to my way of thinking, DeSantis gave up a shot at a sure thing in exchange for a shot in the dark. I had such high hopes for DeSantis, and yet he chose to betray those who trusted him to keep his word. And how is that he can still expect people to vote for him after so blatantly lying to so many of them and, essentially, continuing to do so.

If anything, DeSantis has demonstrated that he is not presidential material. I had much respect for the guy until his run for president started. He’s a RINO, and is nowhere near ready for prime time. And he did so once again over the weekend, during an appearance this past Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” hosted by Jake ‘Mr. Fake New’ Tapper. You see it was then that DeSantis, presidential wannabe, made the claim that President Trump was too old to be president of the United States. The DeSantis/Christy tag team on CNN will win neither of them many votes. Christy does it because no one else is listening to him, DeSantis is doing it out of desperation.

Oddly enough, he doesn’t seem to be too old to be cleaning DeSantis’ clock and ending any chance that he might have once had to rise any higher than a two-term governor. Anyway, Tapper asked, “Your campaign keeps a running list and keeps tweeting a running list of Donald Trump’s fumbles and accidents and confused moments, that’s what they call them, saying this is why his handlers won’t let him debate, noting times that trump has forgot what state he is in, times he has confused Biden and Obama, confused Kristi Noem and on and on. What do you think about Donald Trump’s mental fitness? Do you think he’s too old to be president?"

DeSantis said, “I have said publicly the president is not a job for an 80-year-old. Donald Trump will be order on July 2025 than Biden was in January 2021. But this is not the same guy as the Trump in 2015 and ’16. That guy would show up on the debate stage, he would barnstorm. Yes, he was off-color, he was edgy, but it was all part of an idea that he was really going to shake things up. Now he’s wedded to the teleprompter, he’s not willing to debate, and he’s running on many of the same things he promised to do in 2016 and didn’t deliver.” He said, “Donald Trump is a high-risk proposition as a nominee, because I think the chance of him getting elected is small."

He continued, “But it’s a low reward, because he’s going to be a lame duck on day one, even if he could get elected.” DeSantis added, “Look, when you get to this point, the presidency is not a job for somebody that’s pushing 80 years old, I think that that’s something that has been shown with Joe Biden. Father time is undefeated. Donald Trump is not exempt from any of that. I think with somebody like me, you go in, I’m in the prime of my life, I’ll go in day one, serve two terms, deliver big results and get the country moving again. That’s what Republican voters want to see.” It would seem me that DeSantis is sounding a little desperate. Best to bow out now.

And thus we have yet another example of how it is that CNN is willing to provide a platform to anyone with an ‘R’ after their name who’s willing to bash President Trump. DeSantis is another Bush candidate who, just like Jeb, can’t win. DeSantis shouldn’t have listened to Rove and waited until 2028. DeSantis struggled to win his first run as Florida Governor because of his congressional voting record and he was running against an avowed Communist under an FBI indictment. And it was only after President Trump’s endorsement that DeSantis started to gain any amount of momentum. People here Floridia’s didn’t appreciate him breaking campaign promises.

President Trump has shown more energy, strength, and vitality on the campaign trail than those who are half his age, including DeSantis. President Trump has held numerous rallies during which he speaks for 60-90 minutes, off the cuff and with no teleprompter. He remembers specific dates, names, legislation, and foreign leader’s policies. President Trump understands the world. I don’t see DeSantis doing anything to prove to people he’s the man for the job. I don’t care how old he is, or isn’t. Too Old? President Trump is fighting numerous political persecutions in court, he does at least one rally every week where he fires up thousands of people, and on and on.

Talk about hammering the final nail into one’s own coffin. DeSantis wasn't smart enough to realize that now wasn't his time. Now, there will be no later for Ron. Disloyalty and poor judgement has consequences. DeSantis, just like every other of those trying to take down President Trump still seem not to understand that no Republican will win the presidency without Trump supporters. DeSantis will likely be out after Iowa. It’ll be embarrassing. He should have excused himself two months ago, thrown his support behind Trump and gone back to being one of the best governor’s Florida has had. DeSantis was NEVER a viable candidate vs Trump.

DeSantis took a shot and missed. He allowed himself to used as part of the Republican establishment’s gameplan to take out President Trump. His political career, I think, is now officially over. The age of the president doesn’t really matter. Proof? Joey is so old he has no brainpower whatsoever. Has that stopped him from giving the left almost everything their hearts desire? Nope. With President Trump you know what you’re getting. America first. No matter how old he gets he will push America first and we will get much of what we want. Is DeSantis America first or is he a RINO who will betray us? I honestly have no idea. No one really knows so just vote for Trump.

In one sense though, I think, DeSantis is right, Donald Trump is not the same guy. He’s not the political novice he was in 2016. Now he’s wiser and has been put through the wringer and continues to fight for America and to lead us. He is the only one who can. I live here in Florida. I will tell you who is not the same guy, and that’s DeSantis. He took globalist billionaire dollars this last election and failed to keep his promise to us. He said he would not run for president but is keepers changed his mind. DeSantis would do himself a favor to come home, Florida needs his full attention and regain the faith of all of us then maybe he can be president someday but not this time.

Finally, DeSantis will be forever known as being a two-term governor. He has roughly three years left in his second term. What’s he planning to do next? He’s sabotaging his future in politics and it’s a little sad to watch. And then there’s President Trump, like the doctor with a terrible bedside manner. He tells you that you need to lose 50 pounds and to stop smoking. You’re offended and you’re angry, you come up with 10 reasons why you think he’s crazy. And then one night while you’re sitting there watching TV with a beer in your hand, you suffer a heart attack. You wake up in the ICU and finally realize that he was the only one who was telling you the truth.

RON DESANTIS, WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN, WILL NOW NEVER BE…

Once upon a time I had a fantasy. It was back when my governor, Ron DeSantis, was running for re-election and stated that he had no intention of running for president if President Trump did decide to run for re-election. In my fantasy DeSantis made good on his promise not to run, and while he continued doing a great job as governor came out as an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump. And it would be after having completed most of his second term President Trump would then reward him for his support by tapping him as his running mate. But Ron squashed my fantasy by allowing his ego to get the better of him, convincing him to take on President Trump.

And was over this past weekend, during an appearance on this week’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” that DeSantis stated that he would not serve as President Trump’s vice president if the President Trump were to ask him to be his running mate. And it was on Wednesday of last week, while in Detroit, that President Trump was asked about his competitors for becoming the Republicans nominee. And it was then that President Trump said, “They’re all job candidates. They’ll do anything, secretary of something. They even say VP. I don’t know. Does anybody see any VP in the group? I don’t think so.” And I’d have to agree.

And it was during the interview that anchor Maria Bartiromo who asked, “If President Trump came to you and said let’s partner up, you be my VP would you do it?” DeSantis said, “No, I’m running for president.” He added, “We need somebody that can serve two terms. We need somebody that can win states like Georgia and Arizona, which President Trump cannot do or did not do, even though candidates like McCain and Romney had no problem winning those states. We need somebody who, and I’m the only one running, including Donald Trump, everything I’ve promised the voters that I would do as governor of Florida, I’ve delivered on."

He added, “We delivered budget surpluses, paying down debt, tax cut, school choice, parents’ rights, banning sanctuary cities, expanding Second Amendment rights. All and all down the line I promise and I deliver. And that’s really what we need, because the country is in decline.” I feel confident in saying that DeSantis has shot himself in both feet. He should have just stayed out of it, finished his term as governor, and been a sure thing in 2028. Instead, he alienated President Trump’s base which he would have had behind him in 2028, blew any chance of a Trump endorsement in 2028, and showed himself to be just another also-ran instead of Trump’s heir-apparent in 2028.

While I freely admit that I am in no way an expert in area politics, I do find myself questioning his political instincts. Clearly, he would have done himself a favor by focusing on finishing his second term, perhaps endorsing President Trump along the way, putting himself in the position of being selected as President Trump’s running mate. And if successful in 2024 DeSantis would have been right where he needed to be going into the 2028. He has now burned his bridges with MAGA by listening to those who are part of the ‘Establishment.’ President Trump’s heir-apparent blew it because of his impatience. He would have had 2028 in the bag if he had just waited his turn.

And now I feel that he may never get the chance, and that, I think, is a shame. He should have stayed out of 2024, built up his credentials as a conservative and tried in 2028. He would have been the natural frontrunner. He made the bad decision to run against President Trump. It would seem that he allowed himself to be coaxed into a premature run, promised that President Trump would falter, and that he would inherit the frontrunner position. Whoever is backing him is purely anti-Trump and MAGAs know it. And just think we could have had 12 years of Republican leadership, but DeSantis either got greedy or took some very bad advice that he should have ignored.

I won’t vote for DeSantis, not now, not ever. I don’t mind that he wants to run for President, but it should be hard to ignore that he wouldn’t have even won his election for governor had it not been for President Trump’s endorsement. He should have waited his turn for that reason alone. All he accomplished was to piss off those who like him, but want to vote for President Trump. People, including myself, feel betrayed. He promised the people of Florida that he would finish his term as governor and then proceeded to change the law so that he could run for president and remain governor. And I’m a bit uneasy when it comes to many of those who have endorsed him.

DeSantis should have caught on early that President Trump being jailed is a pipe dream. His only shot at become president was via being President Trump’s VP. DeSantis jumped into the big game prematurely, and his whiney, spiteful, amateurish political persona has likely put the kibosh on his hope for a Presidential future. Look, I’ve held my nose and voted for RINO nominees more times than I care to count. There was Bush 41, Dole, Bush 43, McCain and, finally, Romney. All were losers every single one. I voted for Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump without having to hold my nose and I will happily, cheerfully, vote for the latter once again next year.

I would have voted for DeSantis for president if he had waited until the next election. He had a good name and solid support. Republicans could have anticipated three terms of Republican presidency if he had not chosen, for whatever reason, to muddy up the waters. I had not seen such self-serving in his nature until he pulled this stunt. But then, he is a politician so what can we expect? My opinion of him has been greatly diminished. He could have been a viable candidate in 2028, but not now. Too bad. If RINOs had fought the stolen 2020 election, President Trump would be a lame duck right now and DeSantis would be the likely front runner to be our next President.

RON DESANTIS HAS YET TO LEARN THAT TRUST IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Let me be perfectly clear, I have little to complain about when it comes to the job that Ron DeSantis has done as my governor. In fact, there was a time when I hoped he would join forces with President Trump, as my ‘dream team’ for 2024 was the team of Trump/DeSantis. But sadly, it was just not to be as DeSantis instead chose to put his own political fortune, at least potential fortune, above what I believe would have been best for the country. Two things that concern me about DeSantis: first it was when running for re-election that he promised us here in Florida that he would not for president if President Trump did run, second are all of the RINOs supporting him.

And it was during an appearance just this past Sunday, on FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” that he was heard to whine about those in the media who do not want him to be the nominee. Frankly, to my way of thinking, he’s doing little more than making excuses regarding what many are now describing as a campaign that appears to be faltering. And it was that which was the topic of discussion. Anchor Maria Bartiromo said, “What’s going on with your campaign? There was a lot of optimism about you running for president earlier in the year.” She asked, “What happened?!” DeSantis said, “Maria, these are narratives. The media does not want me to be the nominee."

And he went on to say, “I think that’s very, very clear. Why? Because they know I’ll beat Biden. But even more importantly, they know I will actually deliver on all these things.” He continued, “We’ve had incredible support in the early states, building an organization, signing up the key people that you need to be able to compete in a place like Iowa. We just launched our Mamas movement. My wife was in Iowa with Governor Kim Reynolds launching that. Parents, and particularly moms, I think are going to be the secret weapon both in this primary and in the general election. Nobody has been a better champion for those folks than me."

DeSantis added, “I never expected to just snap fingers and all of a sudden, you know, you win seven months before anyone happens. You got to earn it and you got to work. And it requires a lot of toil and tears and sweat. And we’re going to do that.” You gotta love how he goes on Fox News after it has gone woke, getting fluff and softball questions and still complaining about how the media doesn’t like him because he’s too awesome. If DeSantis was half as smart as he thinks he is, he would simply shut down his campaign, work to heal the relationship with President Trump and vow to support President Trump in any way needed. Otherwise, he hurts the party and himself.

I live here in Florida, and I never believed he was going to run for president because he said he would not. But I fucked up, I trusted him. So from here on out I won’t vote for him again. He should have stayed the friend to President Trump that he was. President Trump could have used a good man at his side. But now I don’t know if he’s a good man or simply another opportunist. That goes for all of those running against President Trump. Instead of standing with him, they’ve chosen to oppose him. But to no avail, he will be the nominee, and in a fair election he will win. And many will likely come hat in hand begging for job in his administration. They should be shunned.

And while I hate to burst his bubble it’s not he who those in the media lives in fear of. It’s Donald J. Trump who continues to strike fear into them. And need I remind him that his primary problem isn’t that the media doesn’t want him to be President, his main problem is that the RINO establishment Republicans does ‘want’ him to be President. The media would love to have anyone other than President Trump be the nominee. It’s the citizens of this nation who are rejecting DeSantis for the way he has continued to treat President Trump since the 2020 elections, and for not having the decency to wait until 2028 to make his move, after Trump’s second term.

So DeSantis allowed himself to be talked into going back on his promise not to run, and in the process succeeded in only pissing off a lot of Trump supporters. He could have had 2028 in the bag, especially had he been chosen as President Trump’s running mate, which as I have already mentioned would have been my dream team. But I think he can now safely kiss that possibility goodbye, he’s most likely burned that bridge. DeSantis would have been better rewarded for loyalty. So without a single vote having been cast, this guy is already making excuses. President Trump is who the media doesn’t want to run, DeSantis is just trying to stay relevant and in the news.

At least for now DeSantis has likely lost me for 2028. If you can’t take a man at his word, then he cannot be trusted. And trust, once lost, is nearly impossible to regain, ever. And that may prove to be the lesson the governor will end up learning the hard way. Now it remains to be seen as to whether or not DeSantis will be able to recover, politically speaking, from this little mess that he has created for himself, that will be up to him. But if I were him I wouldn’t hold out too much hope. But a big step in that direction would be for him end his campaign and to throw his support behind President Trump once he wins the nomination. That’s the only way back for him.

President Trump was, and continues to be, ‘The Man in the Arena,’ taking all the shots, fighting the good fight when the rest of these politicians were keeping their heads down waiting for more favorable winds to fill their sails. Now these ‘fair weather friends’ seek to benefit from the awakening in America that President Trump built through sweat and hard work. This comes after they rode his coat tails into positions of power or accepted appointments only to quit when the seas got a little rough, looking out for themselves. If only DeSantis could have settled for vice president thus creating the possibility of keeping the White House for 12 years.

The Republican Party, since around the mid-1990s has been little more than an abject failure. The same ones who, for decades, made all manner promises in their quest for votes only to forget, once safely in office, that those promises were ever made. They fail to understand that it is they who are to blame for Donald Trump being elected in the first place. And if they’re wanting someone other than President Trump, then they will need to not run some feckless RINO against him. But it’s a sad fact that all they have are feckless RINOs, it’s their entire bench. And yet, they continue to assume Trump supporters are all knuckle dragging morons who can be easily fooled.

PRESIDENT TRUMP, OR RON DESANTIS…THE CHOICE IS A NO-BRAINER…

So, I live in Florida and I love my governor, Ron DeSantis. But as we all know a great governor does not always a good president make. And while he has been very successful here in Florida, it seems his success has gone to his head causing him to suffer from what some would describe as being delusions of grandeur. I had hoped he would be one of President Trump’s more vocal supporters and I’m rather disappointed that he has chosen a different tack. And in so doing he makes clear that he cares less about the country than he does about gaining for himself a political promotion. Proving he is just another politician, and I’ve had a belly full of politicians.

Now I’m thinking that he may smell blood in the water because of this pending arrest and potential indictment of President Trump and has now chosen to strike while the iron is hot. But I hate to be the one to burst his bubble because a recent poll would seem to indicate the President Trump has gained support while the governor seems to have lost support. Perhaps that loss of support is a result of his rather lame response to the ongoing attempt to railroad President Trump. A Monmouth University poll released on Tuesday shows that 41 percent of Republican voters want President Trump as the nominee, placing him 14 percentage points above DeSantis at 27 percent.

President Trump has gained eight percentage points of support compared to a Monmouth poll that was released back on February 9, when he and DeSantis were tied at 33 percent. Conversely, the Florida governor has slid six points. President Trump has also made substantial gains on DeSantis in Monmouth’s hypothetical head-to-head poll. Currently, President Trump leads DeSantis 47 percent to 46 percent, a net-14 point swing his way in just seven weeks. The previous poll, which was completed between January 26 and February 2, showed DeSantis with a double-digit lead over President Trump at 53 percent and 40 percent, respectively.

DeSantis weighed in on the expected arrest on Monday. He condemned George Soros-backed New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg but also said his administration would “not going to be involved” with a “manufactured circus by some Soros [backed] DA.” And he said, “But what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago, to try to use something about porn star hush money payment,” DeSantis said, concluding that he has “real issues” to deal with in Florida.” Many conservatives were highly critical of DeSantis’ rather weak response.

And DeSantis's stock now seems to be going through the floor after his weak response to President Trump’s potential indictment. And during a recent interview with Piers Morgan he took numerous swipes at President Trump. In a way I’m more than a little disappointed in DeSantis, the country has been made to hang by a thread and yet he’s content with playing political games. And regarding President, DeSantis just keeps reloading the shotgun and shooting himself in the face. Personally, I thought he was smarter than that, but perhaps he’s been blinded by ego. And it does make me more than a little suspicious that Jeb Bush has already endorsed DeSantis.

DeSantis would never have been governor without help from President Trump. As it was, in 2018, President Trump barely pulled his butt across the finish line. Five years later and we see DeSantis running his mouth against the person who did so much for him. I also don’t appreciate being scammed into voting for him for a second term as governor. If he wanted to run for the presidency, he could have let another republican who really wanted to govern this state run for his job. Instead, he figured he would get Florida law changed so he could run for the presidency and still keep his job when he loses. DeSantis is another establishment republican. I had hoped he was different.

You know, there’s an old saying that says, “what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger.” President Trump is America’s last best hope. Everybody else, including DeSantis, following the movement that President Trump started, are nothing more than second and third stringers. And the last thing America needs, if we are to survive as a free and sovereign nation, is not some second stringer as our president. President Trump is a proven commodity, and despite the fact that DeSantis has done an excellent job here in Florida, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he would be an equally good president. Personally, I’m just not willing to gamble. Are you?
