THE BIZARRE STATE OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY…

Well, this week, the Democrats have done what they appeared to be so eager, even determined, to do, officially nominate the battered Hitlery to be the torchbearer of their party for 2016.  She has now finally limped across the finish line. She is tired and, I think it fair to say, much of the country is tired of her.  Sorry, Democrats, no do-overs. You're stuck with her.  Be careful what you wish for.

But it isn't just Hitlery who is so out of touch and in tragic decline. It would seem to be the entire Democrat Party. The American Enterprise Institute reported last week that the Democrat platform is virtually silent when it comes to economic growth.  Maybe that’s because all across the country during the past eight years of Obamanomics, economic growth has been pretty much silent as well.

This is an exaggeration, of course, but not much of one. We have had 2 percent growth under Barry, but that's far from an economy that can in way be considered, in any reasonably way, as one that’s growing. It's sister-kissing growth that, yes, has thankfully kept us out of a recession, but doesn't lead to much, if any, rise in living standards.  What is does is to allow us to simply tread water.

And just as Barry refuses to utter the words "Islamic terrorism," now the whole Democrat Party can't seem to bring itself to endorse "economic growth."  But then, for the left in this country, growth isn't really the goal anyway. What their only goal seems to be, and we know that by listening not only to their candidates for president, but their members of Congress, nothing less than redistribution of wealth.

The language of a party platform doesn't matter much, if at all. But if you're not for growth, then you probably aren't going to produce much of it, just as if you're not even trying to get in shape, it's a good bet you're not going to shed those extra 16 pounds you’re carrying around your middle.  While there has been much talk about supposed ‘economic growth’ over the last eight years, it’s mostly leftist fiction.

Amazingly, the last great growth hawk of the Democrat Party of modern times, John F. Kennedy, ran against Republican Richard Nixon in 1960 on the issue of the "growth deficit." The economy in the 1950s was fairly prosperous, much more so than over the last eight years of Barry. But JFK said we can "do bettah" and convinced Americans we could see much faster wage gains with greater opportunities.

Through tax cuts and free trade, the JFK era sparked growth rates of 4, 5 and even 6 percent in the go-go '60s until LBJ came along and crashed the economy with his “Great Society” welfare statism.  Now we have this weird austerity-worship that has taken over the party. The rich and businesses are portrayed as scalpers and scoundrels. And employers are exploiters in the "you didn't build that" mindset.

Radical environmentalists, now a bedrock constituency of the party, are anti-growth and believe that when people get richer, it's worse for the planet.  They should go live in India or Mexico City and see how well the environment is doing there.  They ridicule what they call "growth-mania" on the right. Human economic activity, they warn, is causing catastrophic global warming.

Perhaps this explains the litany of economic failures during the Obummer years. We have had $8 Trillion of new debt; minimum-wage increases; Obamacare; an $800 Billion stimulus plan (with "shovel-ready" projects); tax increases on the rich; more than $100 Billion in green energy subsidies; auto company and union pension bailouts; re-regulation of the financial industry and banks,

And add to that the fact that we have had a Federal Reserve that has manufactured near zero short-term interest rates for seven years with up to $4 Trillion of bond acquisitions.  All of these were designed primarily to redistribute income, so how can it be a shock to anyone that they haven't produced anything but marginal economic growth?  All that has been done has been done by design.

Poor Hitlery now has the rather unenviable task of persuading Americans to open up wide and swallow four more years of this progressive swill.  Here's the question that Donald Trump and Mike Pence should be asking every day: What would Hitlery offer that is in any way different?  She is promising minimum-wage increases, tax hikes on the rich and more infrastructure spending. This is new? This is change?

The left's defense of growth anemia is that 2 percent growth is now the new normal, so get used to it. Barry's first economic guru, Larry Summers, calls this secular stagnation that is here to stay. But the fact is we could have 4 percent growth easily. A pro-America energy production policy, including putting coal back in business, could produce $150 billion more output each year.

Another yet another percentage point of growth could come from tax reform with reductions in business taxes to spur investment and hiring, that according to the folks at the Tax Foundation.  But Democrat Party is, quite simply, incapable of getting us there, because they aren't even trying. They will celebrate 2 percent growth, the weakest recovery in half a century, as being some glittering achievement.

So the party that once stood with the working class now says Americans have to work more and settle for less. That's not just wrong; it's sad. The Democratic Party long ago abandoned productive people.  Because those who produce are independent, are unwilling to let government completely control their lives, and want reward for exceptional efforts. They don’t ‘need’ the government.

Allowing a growing economy prevents the power that the Democrats so badly crave, and think they deserve, that so badly hampers those that produce.  It's obvious the Democrat platform is bankrupt of anything considered to be helpful, but too much of the media continues to hold the platform high and hide the failures. That's the real problem, and until the media is held as a participant in the failures, little will change.

So, the "Late, Great Democrat Party" will continue to exist, at least until such time as enough Americans wake up to what’s being perpetrated against them.  Which I don’t see happening any time soon.  So the party will continue to harm millions, and as an active, and willing, participant in the destruction of America.  And it will leave very little behind other than a trail of destruction, turning everything it touches into shit.
